This is an original chart produced by the US Geodetic Survey. It is not a copy or a scan. The chart is printed on beautiful thick paper. It shows northeast coast of US from Atlantic City. NH north to Falmouth, MA. There are several navigational courses charted on it in pencil and one in ink. There is a navigational notation written in ink near Martha's Vineyard. This rare map depicts most of the island of Marthas Vineyard though does cut out its southwestern portion. Includes both Edgartown and Holmes Hole. The western extension of Nantucket appears in the lower right quadrant. Towns. Villages, farms, and roads are all beautifully rendered. So too are nautical indications, oceanic depths, and undersea features. There are views of both Holmes’ Hole Harbor and the entrance to Muskeget Channel. SAILOR MADE ANTIQUE MARTHA'S VINEYARD CANDLESTAND WITH INLAID TOP,
This unique antique candlestand was found in Martha's Vineyard. It is believed to be sailor made and its nautical heritage can be seen in the use of whale bone. Baleen and ebony in the inlay framed with curly maple, and in the acorn drop of the elegantly turned stem. It is crafted from walnut with a soft rich patina and is crowned with a crenulated gallery top. It measures 18"wide, 13"deep and 26.5" inches high and weighs 5 lbs. There is an old repair to the stem as shown in one of the photographs, but this does not affect the stability of the stand. There is a crack in the inlay and 3 small cracks in the gallery top, but they have been repaired and do not affect the stand's appearance.

Measuring about 434" x 36" This is US Coast& Geodetic Survey Nautical Chart No. C&GS 1210, titled"United States- East Coast- Massachusetts-Rhode Island- Martha's Vineyard to Block Island. It is mostly water, with Rhode Island Sound in the middle, and parts of Martha's Vineyard on the right and Block Island on the left. The mainland coast runs along the top, with Newport, Rhode Island on the left, and New Bedford, Woods Hole and Falmouth, Massachusetts, on the right. It is dated 1969, and stated to be the 13th Edition. The scale is 1:80,000. It is in generally very good and usable condition. With some light surface and edge wear and creasing, and maybe a mis-fold or two, and it may also have some ink and/or crayon inscriptions on the back, some of which may have bled through, and perhaps also some notations or ... morecorrections on the map itself. This came from the collection of an Esso tanker captain, who had the habit of writing at least the chart title and/or number in bold lettering on the back, sometimes also with other notes or reference numbers. There are some light stains and smudging on it, light water marks in upper left and right corners and an area of many tiny mildew marks at left edge. The extreme edges of the paper show wear and fraying and there are a few very small tears in extreme edges, but these are well beyond the black border of the image. There are two very small pencil notations marked at Westport, MA and in the bottom margin, also one very faint navigational course drawn in pencil from Block Island to Gay Head. Measuring about 43" x 36" This is US Coast& Geodetic Survey Nautical Chart No. C&GS 1210, titled"United States- East Coast- Massachusetts- Rhode Island- Martha's Vineyard to Block Island. It is mostly water, with Rhode Island Sound in the middle, and parts of Martha's Vineyard on the right and Block Island on the left. The mainland coast runs along the top, with Newport, Rhode Island on the left, and New Bedford, Woods Hole and Falmouth, Massachusetts, on the right. It is dated 1968, and stated to be the 11th Edition. The scale is 1:80,000. It is in generally very good and usable condition. With some light surface and edge wear and creasing, and maybe a mis-fold or two, and it may also have some ink and/or crayon inscriptions on the back, some of which may have bled through, and perhaps also some notations or ... morecorrections on the map itself. This came from the collection of an Esso tanker captain, who had the habit of writing at least the chart title and/or number in bold lettering on the back, sometimes also with other notes or reference numbers. The map has a copyright date by Desliver of 1856 in small print in the bottom margin. Desilver's name and address 251 Market St. Philladelphia appears under the title area. The American Cartographer, Charles Desilver, bought the copyrights and plates of Mitchell's atlas of the same name and updated the maps and made some minor changes particularly ... morein the title block, added his own border style, choices of color and published the atlas from 1856 to 1859. The run of the Desilver atlas was more limited in number than the previous Cowperthwait publishing, thus the Desilver maps are the rarest of all the Mitchell maps published and difficult to find. A copy of the title page is included. Size: The map image measures approximately 12 by 15 1/2 inches on a 13 3/4 by 17" page. Condition: The map is in Very Good condition for its age with overall tonal aging and original handcoloring as issued. Blank on the reverse, printed on a strong flexible page, not brittle, basically as seen in the pics. There is some darkening around the edges and a few minor specks as usual, nothing distracting, otherwise it is very clean with a nice anttique quality that would frame up nicely. Backstamp is in block letters in a deep cobalt blue– very strong. I thought it was perfect. But it is not. The tips of one scallop has a rough feel, so must be teeny tiny flea bit chips. At that juncture, it was Blakeman& Henderson that inherited the ownership of the original PH Leonard, and made a corporate decision to only import porcelain from Limoges. The map is well documented in the title block area stating US. Coast Survey and dated 1881 or earlier. It is uncolored as originally issued. The map is not matted, mounted or framed, being sold as shown in the main pic. Size: The map image measures approximately 23 1/2 by 30 inches on a 26 by 32" page Condition: The map is in Good condition with overall tonal aging. Blank on the reverse with multiple ... morefolds as issued. It is basically as seen in the pic. There are some smudges in the bottom right off Nantucket, some minor creasing at the ends of the folds and around the fold intersections as typical of an old folding map, otherwise the map is very well preserved on a strong flexible page that would frame up nicely, see the pics for more on condition. From what I have been told, this is the 1st issue of the the publication that was in a soft cover. The 1st& second issue was a loose leaf type of format. Vintage fishing Rod and Reel Engraved "Martha's Vineyard Fishing Derby 1958"
Vintage fishing rod and reel. Rod is a 2 piece about 6 feet long made of bamboo. It is six sided and has no identifying labels on it. It is in tough shape. The reel is an Abu Garcia. Made in Sweden. Engraved on the bottom of the reel are the words" Martha's Vineyard Fishing Derby 1958" The reel seems to work and appears to be in better shape than the rod.

Measuring 24 inches long by 17 inches tall, the two mast schooner weathervane has spent many years outside. The original first paint is very worn and I found a couple of breaks to the wires, which have been restored with copper wire. Constructed from zinc, all of the sails are original. This weathervane looks much older than it actually is, but since there is a zip code in the address, it must be from the 1960s. Thankfully, the original owner removed this weathervane before it fell apart. Stamped July 7. 1937 at bottom margin, right. Dimensions: 30 X 38" Chart# 347 This chart is in excellent condition. It has a very few extremely small. Light smudges on it. It has been folded twice. The vertical center fold is a little bit wrinkled, but all of these creases could be greatly minimized by a professional framer. The chart shows Vineyard Haven, East and West Chop, Oak Bluffs, and Hart Haven in very fine detail, with streets and houses shown. It gives a historic record of what the northern part of Martha's Vineyard looked like in 1934. Please look at all 12 photos carefully, as most details, information, and flaws are visible in them. If there is any question about it, says, GAY HEAD MASS. Gay Head is unfired clay, baked in the sun so that it can retain it's natural colors. I believe that this piece is about 100 years old.
