Here's a nice standard size undivided back post card with a view of the Tabernacle on the Camp Meeting grounds at Cottage City. Massachusetts. Number 2009 of a series. Published in the first decade of the 1900's by A.C. Bosselman& Co. New York and printed in Germany. The Germans had the best printers in the world during this period and the details on this card are excellent. My copyright mark is in my scan. Not on the post card. Unposted with nice corners. Please examine photos. They are THIS item and are part of the description. I do not use stock photos or photos of other people’s items. This is an interesting ash tray souvenir. In bold golden letters it reads"Martha's Vineyard Island" along the rim. I don't think the"Island" is often used. It is assumed. But in the center is a large ship in full sail. At first I thought maybe this was Bartholomew Gosnold's bark Concord. Gosnold discovered and named Martha's Vineyard in 1602. In a painting by Bierstadt the small bark can be seen at Cuttyhunk. The three masted sailing ship on this ashtray is NOT the Dartmouth bark Concord. Then I thought maybe it was a whaler. A common sight off the New England coastline. But there is that big red cross. SPAIN had ships with red crosses for 300 years after driving The Moors ... morefrom the Iberian Peninsula, including most famously the ships of Christopher Columbus. But the Spanish ships I find usually have a more Maltese shaped cross. This is a plain elongated cross. My best guess then is this ship is an artist's fancy and has pretty much nothing to do with Martha's Vineyard Island. But please, do not let that stop you from buying it! Map and business directory. Tentative dating comes from the biplane on the front. Biplanes were common in the early 1900s and during World War I but were overtaken by mono-wing planes by the late 1930s. The business directory might help you deduce the year further.

1960s trivet tiles by Screen Craft Products(West Yarmouth. Massachusetts) This tile is 100% vintage from the 1960s and remains in perfect condition. It is porcelain baked with a cork backing and small wire hanger. It is marked from its original maker. Screen Craft. The tile measures 6 x 6" and is about one-quarter inch thick. This is a standard tile that you would see on vintage kitchen walls. This is an ornamental trivet or tile. Made for use as decoration or use as a hotplate trivet. Extremely rare Hardcover Slipcase JAWS Memories from Martha's Vineyard
Up for auction is an extremely rare hardcover copy of JAWS Memories from Martha's Vineyard. This was produced by Moonrise Media and was extremely limited- it sold out online almost immediately. Aside from the hardcover copy of this truly amazing and in-depth book on the filming of the movie JAWS. This set contains a DVD of rare footage shot on location(outtakes of the Kintner scene are especially interesting) It also contains a fiberglass fragment of the Orca, the original filming boat used in the film. This display is signed by the Murphys, who contributed to the production of the film and have long been known to possess the actual filming boat on their Menemsha property. Lastly the whole thing comes in a fabric bag. I purchased this from another collector. The only flaw in it is a creased corner of the slipcase. Which occurred in shipping ... moreto me. It hardly detracts but there is a photo for you to see. These regularly sell for a lot because of how rare they are- ultimate collectible for JAWS fans. I'm only parting with it because I have a softcover copy of the book for reading. So another collector can enjoy this one with all the extras. World War II had been over for a year when a group of forward thinking fisher-men came together to form an annual autumn tradition to promote Vineyard camaraderie and sportsmanship. The fall fish migration was always an important time for native Islanders. It is a period ... moreof superb fishing and a time of relaxed recreation along the shore. The creation of the derby came at an ideal time. A time of optimism and at a time when the Island community was looking at expanding its tourist industry. The idea according to the late Al Brickman, was formulated by a public relations man named Nat Sperber, working for the new ferry service owned by Russell Stearns and Ralph Hornblower. His mission was to come up with a fall promotion. Nat came down here and met with the Martha's Vineyard Rod and Gun Club. At that time Antone K. deBettencourt was the president of the club. Tony called a meeting for about a half a dozen of us and we met and agreed that the Rod and Gun Club would sponsor the derby. Nat Sperber acted as our professional advisor. Mr. Brickman told this writer in 1983.The general chair-man of the contest was M. Martin(Marty) Gouldey, an Edgartown lawyer. The contest drew 1,000 fishermen from 29 states and as far away as the territory of Ontario. The top prize was $1.000 cash. The winner, Gordon Pittman of New York, won the purse and a one week stay at the Harborside Inn for a 47 pound striper. The second prize, a building lot in Gay Head, went
