This is a Vintage Cast Iron Christmas Tree Stand or Flag Pole Holder. It could be used as either one. It is made of two pieces of Cast Iron joined together. The seams are very tight. The finish is original. It has some gold paint highlights on the feet and at the seams. The feet are slotted to anchor it to a base or the floor. It measures approx. 7 1/4" high and 3" across the top, with a 2 3/4" opening. It is in good condition, with no damage that I can see. Lots of honest wear and some missing paint. Great tree stand found in a local well-to-do estate. You won't see this model too often.This stand appears to be a very realistic life sized pr. of black boots. I would guess either a representation of santa Claus" boots.Or possiblt firemans style boots. It was used as either a tree stand for Christmas,or possibly a flag stand? for a parade,in front of a firestation,or on a float. Possibly also used in a firehall,or VFW hall or the like. I would guess it was made sometime between 1890-1910. Note the classical victorian style original screw in holders to hold the tree or flag. In today's world.if you want the best ever umbrella stand under your picnic or patio table.seek no more,here it is.a sight better than that weighted piece of plastic. And this is the forever model.it will outlast a hurricane or a war. Measures 12"H ... moreX 11"W X 12" D. THE opening for tree or flagpole/umbrella is 3 1/8"w. This piece does not have a reservoire for water as found on modern tree stands.Weighs a substantial 27 lbs.Casting is fairly crisp for a cast iron item. Note details of buckles,indented heels,the sole of the boots,where it appears that a heavy duty lether over wraps the leather underneath it. This is a well executed and designed formInstead of a plain circular screw head, the adjusters have a nicely detailed victorian cartouche style grip end. As stated above,there are no breaks,cracks,repairs or losses.Could use a good cleaning or new coat of paint if desired. Paint appears to be original and is worn,scratched and chipped in spots. There are some areas of slight surface rust.but nothing of concern.this is quite normal for it's age and cast iron composition. Personally,I would not overpaint as it shows a nice antique worn patina.but that is up to the new owner. This is a very unusual and rare collectible,with various applications for use. Vintage Marvy Model 66 Barber Pole With Globe Holder
Fresh off a pole in northern Vermont.This Marvy model 66 barber pole was subject to vandalism while in use.A small barber shop still used this vintage barber pole for their business when someone damaged thee glass and broke the white globe on top.Instead of repairing it,the owners opted to replace it with a modern one.The wiring looks frayed so I did not try to plug it in.All the parts to restore this are available,it needs the outer glass cylinder,the inner striped cylinder and the globe that mounts on top.The light sockets that light the stripes and globe are undamaged but look like they need new wires.The castings are in good condition and the bottom stainless cup is good too,just one tiny dimple.The inner cylinder rotates freely and I would assume the motor still works,it is about 26" tall without the globe.Winning bidder will pay ... moreactual shipping cost,payment will be made within 3 days,items may be combined to save on shipping,please ask questions for a prompt reply.
