Shakespeare 1775 Wonder Cast reel- In original box, with original instructions
This auction is for a vintage Shakespeare Model 1775 spincast reel. With original box, instruction papers, and wrench. Reel shows a minor amount of the wear you'd expect from being attached to a rod and banging around in the bottom of a boat. There is also a chip in the finish on the cover the smaller than the size of a pencil eraser(visible in picture) The box is in excellent shape, bright and unfaded, with fairly minor wear around the edges and corners, and"Ross" written in faded pencil on the top from the one original owner.

Bottom of the box is red. The outside bottom has a whiter sticker on it with a number: 1 132624. That number matches the serial number of the reel as found on the mounting bracket. The box reads; Garcia Mitchell 306 Intermediate spinning Reel For All Heavy Fishing And Salt Water Fishing! The instructions and use guide: 47 pages of like direct from the factory. Really. Every page of this booklet is perfect. Pristine is not to strong a word to use on this. Covers everything about the reel. Then gets into how to fish and tackle set ups.Complete with exploded views of the reel and a parts list. The Reel: Not sure if this was ever used. Looks- great condition. Handle ... morebinds 2/3rds way around. Very smooth until the bind. I am not a reel mechanic. But from the diagram in the guide. Disassembly looks easy enough. I understand parts can still be found for these reels. Otherwise. The reel looks like it is factory new. All paint is perfect. All chrome is perfect. The handle arm has one small scuff on it. Likely from box rub. Handle screw knob and handle- operate perfect. The bail and related parts are shining bright. Bail operates great.Opens nice. And closes as designed(operates in the free travel space) The mounting tab has no marks whatever i can see on it. Not even a scuff mark. Up for auction an Exceptionally Nice and rarely offered CIRCA 1950"DRAGONFLY" CASTING-SPINNING REEL WITH THE ORIGINAL BOX& INSTRUCTION SHEET. One of a number of strange reels to appear shortly after WWII. The"Dragonfly" was produced by Sierra Angling Equipment Company, Inc. of Reno, Nevada. This particular model is set up for spin-casting and could be converted to fly-casting by the use of a separate spool(which, from the looks of the instructions had to be special ordered for an additional $1.00) The face of the reel is stamped"DRAGONFLY" as well as"SIERRA ANGLING CORP. RENO, NEVADA U.S.A. Also states"PAT. PEND. near the line guide. Painted black and comes equipped with removeable spool, adjustable drag, thumb contol spring for casting/braking, stainless line guide and a single grip.
