Two Garcia Agate spinning rod line guides
These are two German made Garcia Agate line guides with silver frames. The larger guide is 1 1/16 inch in diameter and the smaller guide is 3/8 inch. The larger guide has one fine undisplaced fracture and the smaller guide has two opposing fine undisplaced fractures. Both are new old stock items. They are not recovered from used rods. I classified them as"used" because they have fractures, but guides have not been used.

I’m not sure if these came from old fly rods or casting rods. It appears that the two tip-tops that are attached to the partial blanks are a fly rod size. They are amber in color. The other tip-top and the three guides appear much more reddish in color. I don’t know who made them or the exact sizes. None are damaged from use or abuse. And all have some soil. I firmly believe that the metal areas will polish up nicely by the right person. I’ll let the photos say the rest. Items will be shipped in a box. The rod is square and has a removable Speedlock handle with cork grip. The rod and guides are excellent, with minor paint loss. The handle has a few splits in the plastic around the top, but it is solid and very usable. The cork handle is excellent and the spring in the reel seat works great. I ship using USPS Priority mail. The tip shows some wear and light tarnish as seen. Note that some of the round cork pieces are slightly loose and have dried over the years. The BAG is in good overall condition as there is general overall use and aging. Three ties are intact although a few are shortened. No serious holes of tears were found. Vintage Solid Wood Fishing Rod. A rare wooden fishing rod with the longest section made from one solid piece of wood. Believed to be designed as an Ocean( Saltwater) Rod. Similar to" Murphy" rods of this type. But it is not known if this is an actual Murphy. It appears to be a"production" commercial) type rod, and not homemade. Type of wood is unknown, may be Hickory or Birch. Wood is in good shape with no visible drying or rotting. Not laminated. 85 inches total length, the top part is 66 inches. 31/32" in the widest spot. Flat on one side. Agate" type glass guides and tip. 2 guides are missing. Handle is wooden and has been turned on a lathe. Diameter of the bottom part of the grip is about 1 1/2 inches. The fore grip is about an inch in diameter. The metal reel seat is 5 5/32 inches long. No visible makers ... moremarks or decals on the rod or reel seat. The ferrel is clean inside and the top part slides easily in and out of the butt section. I am not that familiar with rods of this type, so if I erred in any part of my description or assumptions, please let me know and I will add it to my listing. Up for auction we have a nice old bamboo fly rod. This one was attributed to local Maine rod builder Ed Houston. Has a great handle with rod seat marked made in usa. Has a very noticeable flare at base of rod. Rod is in very nice shape with great agate eyes all the way up including tip. VINTAGE ALLCOCKS "DAINTY BOY" BAMBOO FLY ROD-3/1-SLANT GUIDES-AGATE TIP & STRIP
This is a Vintage Allcock's"Dainty Boy" bamboo fly rod. The hardware seems to be nickel silver and the reelseat is part of the cork grip that measures 9.75 inches. I has a sliding band for the reel and the stripper guide and tip top are agates. The guides are the early slant guides and narrow for the silk lines. All the guides and hardware are present and in good shape. There are some windings missing on a ferrule and some intermediates. The rod is a 3 piece 1 tip and measures 8.5 feet. The mid is short by 2 inches and the tip is short by 5 inches. I think the rod was to be 9 feet. There is no sock or tube for the rod but I do pack well for shipping. The decal on this rod is about 75% Hard to read. It appears to say"ROXY CO.HOUSE QUALITY/214 MARKET ST.PHILADELPHIA PA. Condition of the rod is very good, properly tight ferrule.The guide on the butt section is agate. The tip section has opposing agate guides(to reverse the rod and eliminate a fishing set) and an agate tip-top. This rod looks like it has been restored, in very good condition. It is missing the rubber cap on the butt section.
