4 Ft. Steel Rod RARE"Pistol Grip" Rod Up for your consideration is this RARE VINTAGE"PISTOL GRIP" 4 Ft. STEEL FISHING ROD with Unknown maker. This auction includes the 4 ft. Steel Rod with rare"Pistol Grip" carefully packaged for the winner. ROD MARKINGS: The rod and grip are Unmarked with an unknown maker to us. It's possible this is a GEP rod or made by some other famous name brand maker. The exact age is unknown but known to be vintage and most likely from the 1930's or 40's era. ROD MEASUREMENTS: The total length is just over 4 FT. at aprox. 51-1/4" Total Grip areas: 9-7/8. Pistol" handle areas 4-1/2" Reel Seat areas 2-3/4" ROD CONDITION: The rod is believed to be ALL-ORIGINAL with general wear and aging as seen below. The PISTOL GRIP looks very good as there are no cracks ... moreor hairlines on either side of the grip. The grip may or may not have lost it's finish thus exposing the white grips below. It's either that. Or the grips have old soiling along the edges of the white grip areas. The mottled Fore-Grip has a hairline crack on each side of the fore-grip. These are hairline cracks in the fore-grip part. We just left all alone and have not tried to loosen or take apart. Scratching and nicks from pliers are seen at the steel winding check. The rod works fine just the way it is and is shipped as seen with the pistol grip attached. This is a somewhat BLUE color STEEL rod shaft with general wear and aging including: paint loss, scratching, rubbing, light tarnish, nicks and all that's expected of a used steel rod. The steel is'rock solid' as no serious flaws were found in or on the steel. Both line-guides and the tip appear as original to us and are secured with steel wire wraps. See the close-up photos of the(2) line-guides and the tip. All guides, steel wire wraps, and the tip are secure. This rod is READY FOR USE ON RECEIPT! E-Mail us any questions about this rod. Aluminum pistol grip is excellent, cork is just beginning to dry but also excellent(no chips or gouges) rubber both in front and behind the pistol grip is excellent, eyes and wrappers fine, rod action perfect. This is probably an excellent rod to use- for just the right environment. Absolutely nothing to be disappointed with here. vtg Hurd Super Caster Rod & Reel combo fishing pole checkered handle pistol grip
This is a vintage Hurd Super Caster rod and reel combo. The rod is 44" long and the handle and reel is 11" So total length is 55" long. There is no rust on reel, but there appears to be something missing on the left side(last pic shown) it goes in a threaded hole on left side. I do not know what is missing. The line guide works freely and the reel is not froze up in any way. Handle is the checkered wood with a pistol grip. The serial number on reel is 59121. The rod is in very good condition, all line eyes are intact. I will have to ship rod attached to the reel since I do not want to damage the pole in any way. This is a great collector's piece and would look great on display. I will ship item UPS ground due to the length. Post office would require additional charges if you want item mailed USPS.

This listing is for a vintage Heddon fishing pole which I see other online sellers referring to as a Heddon PAL casting fishing rod. It is used/pre-owned. It is clearly marked" HEDDON" I see no model number nor the year it came out. The shaft of the rod appears to be made of graphite. I do not know if this rod is all 1-piece or whether it breaks down into 2 or more sections. If it does break down, I do not know how to disassemble it. The handle, I believe, is referred to as a pistol grip type. That handle, both before and ... morejust after the reel area, feels like cork to me. I see a couple splits to the cork positioned in front of the reel area but there is no cork actually missing anywhere. The integrity of the rod still appears to be fine. This rod measures nearly 61 inches from tip to handle bottom. The winner must supply their own reel, fishing line, bobbers, weights, hooks, lures, etc. This rod saw typical use in its day. There is wear to the factory brown paint at the reel area on both the top and bottom. The cork areas of the pole look to be in fair condition overall while the shaft is in very good condition.
