VINTAGE ORIGINAL POST WWII SPLIT BAMBOO FLY/CAST FISHING ROD KIT This auction is for a vintage five piece Post WW II“White Bear” split bamboo fly and casting rod combination kit with original wooden storage box. The kit includes 18 assorted hand tied flies. Silk gut leader material, snelled hooks and a unique pair of scissors all protected by a plastic covering. The rod is in excellent condition and I do not believe it has ever been used. There is a 100% intact White Bear decal on the handle. The rod can be assembled into a three piece 8’ fly rod or a two piece 5.6’ casting rod. All sections measure 33 ½” I would estimate the fly line weight to be a four-five. The 6 1/8” cork handle and screw down lock reel seat are in excellent condition. There is a crack on the female ferrule on the handle section. I believe this may have occurred ... moreduring the years this rod has been in storage. There are two snake eye guides on the fly rod mid section and three on each tip section. The casting tip section has three guides. There is a stripper guide and hook keeper on the bottom section. The rod fits together perfectly when assembled and has the distinct“pop” sound when pulled apart. All of the sections are straight. The wooden storage box is also in great condition. The honey colored cane and varnish finish are excellent. Check out all 17of the full screen high quality pictures to fully appreciate this gorgeous rod. You would be hard pressed to find another POST WW II rod kit is this condition. The casting action is awesome and this classic wand would be right at home on creeks. Streams and lakes. The worst damage seems to be some peeling which is pictured in picture#7. As you can see in the other pictures the other rods are in great shape. There are suppose to be 2 clasps that keep the box closed. 1 of them is missing.

Vintage Post WWII Sakurai/Sakura Split Bamboo Fly/Cast Fishing Rod Kit
This auction is for a vintage five piece Post WWII Sakurai split bamboo fly and casting rod combination kit with wooden storage box. It is in very good original condition. The kit includes the rod. A genuine silk plaited line, and other random accessories(all shown in the photographs) The wooden box includes an internal storage area to store additional accessories. There is a Sakura decal on the handle and on the wooden box. The rod can be assembled into a three piece 8’ fly rod or a two piece 5.6’ casting rod. Four sections measure 33” and one tip section is 27 ½” The 6 ¾” cork handle is in great condition. There are two snake eye guides on the fly rod mid section and three on one tip section and two on the second. The casting tip section has two guides. There is a stripper guide and hook keeper on the bottom section. The 33” tip ... moresection is not original to the rod but fits perfectly. All of the sections have the distinct“pop” sound when pulled apart. The male ferrule when inserted into the casting end of the reel seat does not slide in completely but it is a secure fit. There is a slight set which will not affect the casting of the rod. The wooden storage box is slightly weathered. And one of the hinges is loose. The honey-colored cane and varnish finish are excellent. The casting action is awesome and this classic wand would be right at home on creeks, streams, and lakes. It will also make a great display.

I was told by the older gentleman that I got this from that it had never been used and that may be true. The only thing I can say is that the sliding plastic that goes over the flies and hooks etc has a break in the middle and is wavy from time. The box is good except for some light splintering on the bottom of one end. The hooks and flies look complete(the end where the swivels are looks a little light to me) There are 5 rod pieces. Not sure how old. My guess mid1960s- early 1970s. Complete kit with ten 50 yard spools of nylon wrap in different colors and spare plastic tube apparently used in rod making process. I do have vague memories of using it to fish with. I've kept it in storage my entire life since. Condition-wise; It does have some scratches and scuffs due to normal use. I found this vintage 1988-1989 Fisher-Price Children's Fishing Kit#3501 at an estate sale and the memories come flooding back! I had this same kit for my son 23 years ago. And even have a picture of him carrying it! He was born in 1987. This is a wonderful beginners fishing kit with instructions and"how to" info listed within the guide. There is another set like this on e-bay but it doesn't include the safety cap that goes on the end of the pole to put the line and hook in when your child is done fishing. Great way to not get hooked while carrying around the pole! This also has one of the bobbers. Hooks and sinkers that originally came with the kit! I don't think this set was used much at all. It is in mint condition and comes with everything you see in the pictures. The date stamped on the tackle box is 1987. It works ... moregreat. I was able to practice cast it myself and reeled it back in. The pole telescopes. Check out the last picture to see the full length when extended. Vintage Japanese Split Bamboo Fishing Rod Kit with Wooden Box
This is a vintage made in Japan Tokyo. Split bamboo fishing kit in a wooden box. One is a bait casting rod which is a 2 pc 5'5" long and the fly rod is a 3 pc 8'3" with 2 tips and a Olympicreel type No.500 reel. The rod and kit appears not to have been used if it has it's hard to tell as the reel has no line and some of the fishing gear is still packaged in Japanese style writing. The wooden case is in good condition except for one of the locking clips is loose and the sliding lids need some wax from being in storage. It was manufactured by Ueno Seiko Co. LTD Japan. It can be used as a 8’ three piece fly rod(with extra tip) or a two piece 5 ½’ casting rod. All sections measure 32 ½” The Olympic storage box contains the original decals. Introduction pamphlet, 20 hand tied flies, a bobber, leader holder, snelled hooks and an Olympic reel clothe. The six inch cork handle an up lock screw reel seat are in great condition. There are two snake eye guides on the mid section. There on the fly rod tips and two on the casting tip. There is a stripper guide on the bottom section. The bottom section and casting tip are not original to the other sections but fit together perfectly. There is a ¼” split on one of bottom section which also will not affect its use. There are two snake eye guides on the fly rod mid section and three on each tip section. Vintage 1940s 50s Fly Casting Fishing Whale Bone Bamboo Rod Tips Kit Tackle Case
I found this fly rod tip kit in my dad's things-it belonged to his brother. And apparently was given to my dad. I really don't know a lot about it. But one of the rod tips has a tag attached that says"Made of Whale Bone" and the other rod tip has 6 sides-I believe it may be made of bamboo? There are also 6 wooden bobbers. Line, sinkers/weights, hooks, flies, and a wooden piece that looks sort of like a fence-this may have been to wind your line on? Rod tips are about 32 1/2" long; case is about 34 1/2" long. The 2 pieces of wood slide into grooves to cover the tackle sections. Case has some general wear on outside. And my uncle wrote his name, Mach. Shop, and Keep Off! on the top. You are bidding on a vintage Fenwick 5 Piece Fly Fishing Pack Rod made from a kit. The rod measures 8' 6" in length and is in very nice condition. It has the Fenwick Eagle on the second piece but no other markings. The metal reel seat and cork handle are in excellent condition. The rod blank is in the traditional chocolate brown Fenwick color. All of the line guides are well wrapped in traditional Fenwick colors and the ferrules are still tight. I don’t know the age of the rod but it’s a nice example of a Fenwick pack fly rod. South Bend 1122 fly reel and a seldom seen South Bend Reliable Fly Fishing Outfit display box. There is a South Bend decal and 59-9’ inscription on the bottom section of the rod. All of the sections measure 37” I would estimate the fly line weight at a six The South Bend display box is loose at the corners and can be easily glued. Otherwise it is pretty solid shape. I wanted to keep it in the original condition in which I obtained it. There are also two Oreno streamer flies included. The South Bend fly reel is an 1122. It is very good condition and fully functional. There is a button for smooth or click retrieve. The six inch Comficient cork handle and South Bend lite lock reel seat ... moreare in very good functional condition. There are four snake eye guides on the mid and tip sections and a stripper guide/hook keeper on the bottom section. The rod fits together perfectly when assembled and has the distinct pop sound when removed. There is a slight natural set in the tip section which will not affect the use or casting of the rod. I meticulously stripped the old varnish. Refinished with four coats of varnish and completed it with high quality wood rubbing compounds. The ferrules have been buffed and polished. The classic brownstone flamed colored bamboo cane and varnish finish are beautiful. The rod and reel are totally fishable. Casting, trolling and still fishing split bamboo fly rod with original Grampus storage box/clothe and many extra’s. The rod is in excellent condition and I do not believe it has ever been used. The rod can be used as a three piece eight’ fly rod; a 6 ½’ fly rod; a 8’ still fishing rod; a 6 ½’ light trolling rod; 5 1/2’ casting rod and a one piece casting rod. See the Grampus illustration pamphlet that is included. The rod uses are made possible by the reducing ferrule(see pictures) I would estimate the fly line weight at a 3-4. The kit also includes leader/gut material. Scissors, three unique bobbers, leader holder, 21 hand tied flies and a plastic container of hooks. ... moreThe wooden box is marked Grampus. There is one end section missing on the box(see picture but in good overall shape. The 6” cork handle is in great condition. The screw up lock reel seat has some very light tarnish due to the fact the rod has been stored for over 60 years. It will not affect its use. There are two snake eye guides on the fly rod mid section. Three on fly rod tip sections and three on the casting tip section. There is a stripper guide and hook keeper on the bottom section. The rod fits together perfectly when assembled, has the distinct pop sound when removed and is straight. The honey colored bamboo cane and varnish finish are their original condition and are spectacular! This would be an awesome versatile rod that could be used under a variety of fishing scenarios. Identifying marks on this item and contents within include the name“Mascot” On the largest piece of the rod, and the words, Made in Japan” on the unopened packages of hooks and gut within the set.
