3 Good Used Berkley “Lightning Rod” Baitcasting Fishing Rod Handles W/Reel Seats
These were used by a local sporting goods store to display different spinning reels. All three handles came from Berkley Lightning Rods. All have the blanks cut off near the handles. All three have padded handles and fore grips. All have some soil and some scrapes on the padding. All are very usable if you’re just trying to build your own rod. All have the blank through handle design. All are graphite. The inside diameter of the blanks on each is very close to 5/16” I’ll let the photos say the rest. Vintage Fishing Rod Casting Reel Seats Handles J.C. Higgins and Longfellow
These two seats/grips are from vintage casting rods. Both are cast aluminum with good cork grips. The bottom seat is marked LONGFELLOW and FRASER. MICH. It has the standard large'nut' on top: the rod end goes down into the hole and the nut is tightened to hold the rod in place. The top reel seat is marked J.C. HIGGINS and OUR OWN TRADEMARK and SOLD ONLY BY SEARS. ROEBUCK& CO. This seat has a friction fit hole for the rod(no threaded nut) And a thumb lever that holds the reel securely in the seat. The bottom end of the lever has a metal tip(not aluminum like the rest of the lever)see 3rd photo) to prevent wear. Both seats are in good condition but have been used and are not mint.

ANTIQUE 1870's WOODEN lake Trout FISHING ROD, BRASS REEL SEATS Vom Hoffe
Offered without reserve is an unusual early(1800's era) fishing rod that was gifted to me by my late uncle many years ago. I searched Google to see if I could find more info but found very little on early rods with these type features. The rod is made from a light color very dense wood that is similar to the color of maple. The wood has the original finish. It is in 2 pieces with a large brass ferrule that has 2 steps in the fitting. There is an old crack in the brass of the sectional ferule but it was made so well that it is still solid with no signs of weakness. There is one dangling brass loop type eye on the forward section, it looks like it was re-tied to the rod. I found a web site called antique rodandreels.com that shows the various reel seats of early rods dating into the 1800's era to help identify them and to my eye this ... morelooks closest to a Vom Hoffe real seat than any other shown but this rod has no company markings at all. I have read that the unusual type eye at the end is called a tunnel eye, this end piece is a full 2 1/2" long brass tip. The rod is 63" long overall, it is a stiff solid and thick rod that was made to catch big lake fish. Because it is early it has a lot of brass so it is a showy piece to display, hopefully someone would like to add it to a collection or can put it to good use!No Reserve! have fun bidding! A lot of these items are well used and may not be useable. A good portion of them came off well used fishing rods so they may have epoxy. Rust and corrosion on them and also have bends.
