Rub it well with a simple application of"Pledge" spray wax, or apply a coat of paste wax like"Bartenders Friend" and buff your rod bright. I bought this 9' 4 piece 12wt rod from Feather-Craft Fly Fishing. With the idea of going after tarpon. The guys at that shop indicated that it had been used for a few casts on one trip. I've never used it except to lawn cast(and you need a big lawn with this rod: it throws a 12wt line a long way) So, I am not claiming that it is a new rod, but it just about is. It has the upper cork handle or fore grip: I think that is a good thing. In my limited experience with really big fish, I don't think many anglers, myself included, put enough pressure on them. I think the fore grip makes it easier and more natural to do so. The fore grip also aids in roll or"spey" casting a 12wt line. We are selling this Temple Fork Outfitters Jim Teeny 12wt 9'0" 4 Piece W/Fighting Grip Fly Rod for one of our customers through our Upgrade Program. The customer used this rod only in freshwater. So, none of the guides are showing corrosion. Upon inspection. It appears the fly rod has been used but is in good condition overall. The full wells cork grip is showing dirt from usage but no damaged areas. The fighting grip is in good condition with little apparent usage.
