Vintage Original 80's Sage Graphite II 490 RP 2 piece 9 ft 4 weight fly rod
You are bidding on one of the first Sage rods made. A 9 ft 2 piece Graphite II(2) 4 weight 490 RP. This is a huge collector's item and years down the road will be worth a ton. Not to mention it is a great fishing tool that is fun to cast. The rod comes with it's original rod sock and aluminum tube. The rod shows a few scratches from honest use, but given the age, is in great shape. The rod really lights up in the sun and I tried to show that in some of the pictures. Everything is in really nice shape, and while not perfect(unused) is still in great condition and perfectly fishable. In fact I recently fished it on my last trip, I just have too many rods. Classic Sage. This rod will cast a dainty dry or weighted wooly bugger no problem. Rod, including blank, guides and reel seat is like new with the exception of very slight soiling of the cork grip. Tube has minor scratches and scuffs. See photos. Out of production and hard to find in this condition. I have custom versions of the 890 and 990 RPLX crafted by Capt. Harry's in Miami and this was one of my backup rods to those. Used only a couple of times to check out. Spent the rest of the time in the tube waiting for something to happen to the custom 990 RPLX, but nothing ever did, so this one remained in the tube and is still like new. Considered by many to be much better than the RPLXi which sadly replaced it.

Offered for sale is a Scientific Angler fly rod with a matching extra tip section. The rod is rated for 5/6 weight lines and is a two section 9 foot graphite fly rod. The rod was found with an perfectly matching extra tip- I didn't know that was available. Not sure of the exact vintage- The rod has a green color to it and that might help date the rod if you know vintage Scientific Angler fly rods. I think the rod is graphite but the only markings are Scientific Angler 9ft. 2 section Line wt. 5/6 The reel seat is stamped GRAPHITE G-16 The rod remains in EXCELLENT CONDITION with very light soiling on the cork handle from previous use. 100% original with no repairs on the butt section or either tip section. The name fisher graphite, F28908 9' 8-9 is etched on the rod, of which I have found only 1 other in my searches of fisher fly rods. So, I do believe it is a fisher blank. Built by J. The Rod is a 2-piece graphite. 9 foot rod, with a half-wells cork grip, and all aluminum downlocking reel seat, designed for 8/9 weight fly lines. MINT MATCHMASTER CARBON TROUT FLY ROD AFTM 7-8 Exquisite 9½ft- 2-piece rod with'as new' bag Ideal for reservoirs or'Big' trout waters I have listed this superb rod as'Used' but it could well be that it has never been at the water's edge. It really is like new with the black carbon and the rings all in mint condition. The first ring and the end ring both have ceramic inserts which show no wear whatsoever. While the remaining eight are all snake eye rings, all of which have no tarnishing at all, that you would expect if they had had a wet line running through them. The whippings to the rings are all mint and varnished. The corks are also in perfect condition with no dampness inherent when the plastic covering is left in place- thankfully the cover had been removed when first purchased. It is rated at AFTM 7-8- ... morewhich. To the uninitiated, means that it is designed to cast either a floating weight#7 line or a sinking#8 line. The rod and fittings weigh just on 4 oz which, for a rod of this strength, is incredibly light. I have tested it out in the field with a#6 line, as it is the heaviest I have, and it cast very well in spite of being the wrong weight for the rod. The power action through the rod was noticeable and felt really excellent to cast. This is a great rod for fishing a reservoir or one of those'Big Fish' waters such as Dever Springs or Letchlade in the UK and would also be perfect for Sea Trout being strong enough but not too powerful. I have never liked to'bully' the fish. It comes with a virtually new rod bag. Please have a good look at my photographs below. Tight Lines! As the rod is shipped in a heavy duty tube. Up for auction is my backup flyrod. It is a US made St Croix Imperial Graphite 8/9 weight 9' rod. It was a backup to my main rod which I sold in December here in eBay. It was a 10 wt Beulah with a Fin Nor#3 and it went for over $425. This rod is practically new and unfished as I always used my 10 weight set up. This rod has nothing more than a couple of TINY dings in the clear coat from travel. It will come with it's divided and padded travel/storage case. I am selling my G Loomis 9 foot 8 weight IMX fly rod. Rod number FR1088(Fly Rod 108" long 8 weight) These rods are very fast action and a joy to cast. This rod has never been used. I own several G Loomis rods and this one never made it out of it's case. The only damage I noted was the rod sock was frayed at the top where it ties. Otherwise this is like a new rod.
