This rod has caught its share of ... morefish(no skunk here) but has been relegated to being a spare and as a result stored away safe in its tube for too long. In a recent review of my rod inventory I realized I've got a ridiculous number of rods particularly in the 7-10wt range so am looking to find them good homes where they'll hopefully see some action. The photos will hopefully evidence the exceptional condition the rod is in. The photos of the cork grip in particular will show how well maintained the rod is. That being said I was able to identify one small imperfection. A small scratch, that prevents me from saying the rod's condition is"excellent" The photo make this surface scratch look way worse than it is and I doubt a buyer would even identify this imperfection upon receipt but I feel honesty of condition should be the foundation of the eBay experience. The rod tube and sock are also in exceptional condition. This rod is of course perfect stripers, bluefish, snook, big reds, baby tarpon, small dorado, etc. Here's what the Loomis website says about this rod line. This is an ORVIS LIGHT SALMON BAMBOO FLY ROD that was built by George Reed and Calvin Skinner in Wes Jordan's fly shop in 1960. The rod is a 9 foot. Two piece, 9 weight and is in excellent condition. I bought it to go after Steel Head but never got the chance. I have used it instead to fish Mid-West Large Mouth Bass and spring Pike. This is an"Impregnated" rod, meaning it is water proofed without varnishes. You can put this fly rod away wet for the night without the worry of softening or ruining the finish. Originally this rod came with a"super-fine" style grip, Orvis loves to use these) they are tiny and well suited for 4 weight rods. I had it replaced with a proper sized big game"full-wells" style grip. This made the rod much more controllable and comfortable to both cast and fight fish with. It has a softer action that does a great job at protecting lighter tippets. It is a forgiving rod and is very light in hand. The cork needs a mild cleaning and it will be ready to fish.
