Sage Z-Axis 11 foot 5 weight Switch Rod Comes with Rod Sock and Sage Original Rod Tube Original Retail Price $715.00 This is a USED Sage Z-Axis 5110-4(11 foot 5 weight 4 piece) switch rod. They no longer make this model. You will pay $850.00 to buy either of the rods that have replaced the Z axis(TCX or ONE) Sage also does not make 11 foot switch rods anymore. Anything longer than 11 feet is not really a switch rod but just a short spey rod. This rod can easily be used for single hand overhead casting or line it up with a spey line and cast it two handed! The rod has been used and has some cosmetic imperfections. The cork is in fantastic shape and has NO cracks or chips. It is darkened slightly by use but is in otherwise great shape. The reel seat has a small 1 milimeter scratch where you can see some silver through the black but the scratch ... moreis very small. There is some small cosmetic scratching on the butt section but nothing that imacts the integrity of the rod. The top wrap on the butt section has some discoloration on one side. I do not know what caused the discoloration but the thread is lighter on one side(visible in pictures 6 and 8) The next section up from the butt section is in great shape. Section 3 has some minor scratching as does the butt section and the top guide wraps have similar discoloration to the butt section. The tip section is in great shape. The rod tube is in good shape but has several stickers on it from shipping. This rod casts like a champ. If you are looking for a TRUE switch rod this is your rod. Up for auction is a St. Croix Imperial SCII/SCIV switch fly rod that is 11 feet in length and for 8 weight line with a fast action. This rod was part of a large lot of broken. Warranty return rods purchased directly from the St. Croix factory. The rod had broken stripper guides in the handle section, but I was able to tie on chrome frame Fuji Alconite stripper guides to make a complete and functional rod. There is also a modification to the top of the cork handle that is shown in the last pic. It seems to be a small depression to rest your index finger while drifting. YOUR BID IS FOR THE COMPLETE, FUNCTIONAL ROD, IN AS-IS CONDITION! When rods ... moreare turned into St. Croix for warranty, they scrap off the label to denote that the warranty has been used up. Orvis Impregmated Bamboo Fly Rod: 11 foot 3 inches, 3 piece, model "Salmon"
This is an Orvis Impregnated Bamboo Rod. The model is called"Salmon. It is 11 foot 3 inches. 3 pieces, 2 tips, with original sack and tube. Serial number 28394, circa 1961. Rod weight is 10 3/4 oz. The rod is in very good, fishable shape. The rod just had the ferrules reset, re-glued, refitted and re-blacked at Orvis, and they also re-wrapped 4 guides whose wraps were loose. It is ready to fish. Back when it was made, the recommended line rating was F2AE, which roughl in modern terms translates to a DT 10. With some casting with various lines you will find a DT, Spey, Skagit or Scandi line combo you like with this nice old vintage bamboo salmon rod.
