All sections are equal length with exception to one tip that is short by 4 inches. Straight as an arrow, reel seat functions and is like new, ferrules are perfect. If you want an 8.5 footer to fish this is it. All the wraps look great. The cork looks and feels new, with some slight dirt from honest use. I tried to portray this in the pictures. Varnish is really nice. This is one heck of a great looking rod and it is ready to fish as is. The cardboard rod tube is in really nice shaped. With only a couple spots missing paper, see pictures. Up for auction is a Winston IM6 6 1/2 foot 2wt. 2 piece with original rod sock, tube. This rod is used, but has been used very seldom, so it is in excellent condition. The hardware is nickel silver with a sliding band cork reel seat, so the rod weighs basically nothing. Like I have said before, the Winston IM6 needs no introduction to experienced anglers. This is the ultra light fly fishers dream rod. This is a factory built, all original IM6 rod, with the serial number written on both sections of the rod, plus on the cap of the rod tube. The spigot ferrules are in excellent condition, fit together with a 1/4 inch gap, just like they are supposed to. No deep scratches, dings, or any structural flaws whatsoever. No repairs have been made to this rod, none are needed. It is a late 1960s vintage rod sold by Daiwa of Gardenia California. It comes with an imitation Pflueger Medalist reel made in Japan. It is an exact duplicate right down to adjustable tension drag, color, finish.everything to look like a 1494 model.but with no logo. The foot is marked Japan. I think this was likely sold as a set with the rod. The reel is loaded with Cortland DT-6-F fly line and backing. It comes in a hard tube, padded cordura covered water resistant rod bag as you see in the photos. The rod is marked Daiwa Corporation. California. On the rod grip is a partial label saying that this is a Maxi-Power rod with a rich cocoa brown epoxy finish and hard chrome stainless ... moreguides. I would guess that these were marketed this way to promote the idea that they were made in Gardenia.all of the advertising at the time said Daiwa of Gardenia, California. While thats possible, I think it more likely that these were actually produced in Japan and marketed out of Gardenia. At any rate it is a beautiful rod with colors and wraps similar to Fenwick rods of the time and beautiful reel seats very similar to those of Phillipsons of the time.
