G. Loomis FR1088-4 GL3 9' 8# 4 Piece Fly Rod In Tube
G Loomis 9 foot. 8wt, 4 piece fly rod. This rod has had little use and has been sitting in the tube not being used. I can't pick and choose my windless days on the Texas coast. And I'm not a good enough fly caster to use this rod in the wind. I'm sticking with my bait caster. Perfect for reds and spec in the Texas bay system. It's been used maybe 10 times. And always wiped down and put up after use. No boat rash on this rod. Check out the guides in the pictures. They are clean and un-bent. The zipper on the tube seized. And therefore I cut the tube open. The tube still works, but it does not close with the zipper. I'm also selling my reel in a separate auction if you are interested. Pay pal. And none deep. Cork shows age, but not abused. The guides look very good also, with only a few showing some discoloring at the feet. It has been used by 2 people: me and Jose Wejebe. I bought the rod from him, after I purchased his last Maverick HPX. It was when he switched his boat sponsorship on The Spanish Fly to Hells Bay. Very well-cared for by its previous owner and seemingly seldom if ever fished. This smooth yet powerful two-hander shows virtually no noteworthy signs of cosmetic wear or tear that one might fear or expect in a rod of this vintage. As evidenced in the photos. The upper and lower cork grips show no hint staining from previous handling, and remain remarkably free from of any major chips, gouges, or excessive missing fill. While not pristine perhaps as it once was new. The sturdy up-locking reel seat still looks great and still functions perfectly too. A close review of the rod's matte-black blank from tip to butt reveals no signs of catastrophic abuse like deep scratches. Scores, or penetrating nicks that would in any way hint the rod's original strength or integrity as compromised. A close inspection of the rod's guides reveals no trace of tarnish. Rusting or oxidization present, with no grooving, deformation, or misalignment present either. A quick test-assembly and deep flexing of the rod confirms all ferrules as still tight-fitting. With no wobble, twisting, looseness or other signs of obvious distress recognized. Still in excellent shape
