Powell"ultra 6" im6 5-6 wt. 2 piece Fly fishing rod. I believe this rod is from the late 80s to early 90s and was told it was and still is one of the best rods available. I would consider the condition to be excellent for its age and believe its seen very little to no use. There are a few light scratches down the rod though. Winston Pre-IM6 Graphite 9'0" 9wt 2pc Fly Rod This rod from Winston holds a historic part of the company as their first series of graphite builds. The rod holds the San Francisco Winston cup logo. But was finished in Montana after the company was purchased by Tom Morgan. These rods do not have serial numbers. The handwriting on the rod(size, length, etc. was likely done by Tom Morgan himself. We were in contact with Winston directly for these answers to this particular rod. The rod itself is in decent condition for its age. The handle has no pieces of cork missing. Etc. The handle half of the rod has a fair amount of light scratches/scuffs, nothing that affects the rod- purely aesthetic. The top half is in great condition- a few light scratches/scuffs here and there but again only aesthetic related. One of the two leather snaps from ... morethe rod sock came off, but is included. Perhaps one of the best of the true classic"trout" rods. This Winston is a joy to cast whether the fish or biting or not. Please see all matching serial#s- this is one of the famed Loomis rolled blanks, and in collector condition. That said, I dearly hope whomever nabs this magnificent fly rod takes it out on the water. This 3pc 4wt IM6 is a true classic trout rod in every sense. It has the length and tip for fantastic mending and line control and is very much a moderate action rod. For those familiar with R.L. Winston fly rods. Leans toward medium in traditional Winston terms. Slightly more supple than the 490 WT that followed it, this rod is one of those cult rods ... morethat don't come around very often and is not easy for me to say goodbye to; however, my collector days are slowing coming to an end, as I am beginning to part ways with the rods that I no longer"afford" to keep. This rod is getting sent on its way only becausehard choices- other rods in my quiver that I have decided to keep overlap with this one both above and below it, if you know what I mean. Amd so. One of the wonderful things about this rod is that it is incredibly light in hand inspiring confidence on the water. This IM6 has tremendous sensitivity and the classic internal spigot ferrule connections provide a smooth 3-piece transmission of feel down the blank. The amazing IM6 tip protects tippet like few rods out there. A perfect rod for swinging a soft-hackle wet for big fish and a legendary dry fly rod, this is a marvelous technical nymphing rod as well, where water is shallow, clear and slow. This is a beautiful Norh X Northwest IM6 Graphite Fly Fishing Rod Model Im900-4. It hardly looks like it has been used so it has a great appearance. The only things to indicate use is a little staining on the cork handle. a blemish on the wood part of the reeo seat and a small rub on the metal clamp of the reel seat. Up for bid is a G Loomis Fly Rod model FR 1087 IM6 that features a 9' length and 7lb line strength. It comes with the factory soft cover and also a hard shell carrying case with the G Loomis logo on it. Overall condition of the rod I would rate as good/very good as it may have some minor wear marks on it but from what I could see I really didnt notice anything that detracted at all from the looks or function. The case however does have a slight bend to it so it has been bent a little but I believe this was done without the rods in it as I cant see any unusual bends in the rod. As always though. Classic Winston fly rod with shaft marked: IM6 8'~4 2 1/4 oz. 17776. Tip-to-butt. The rod shows barely discernible handling. Rod tube shows minimal wear as shown in the photos. Cork grip feels like new. Bag is excellent plus. Correct period bag and heavy-enameled rod tube from early Winston production. Tube cap has sticker removed, with tube marked 8' 4wt with label. See pic with letter from Winston where they filled out a new tube sticker(they did not have any of the older stickers) The customer service at Winston is extraordinary. I also inquired as to if there were any repairs. They keep records for 6 years and no repairs showed. However, upon closer inspection of the rod you will see the same script as on the other sections but the tip section is in a slightly different silver. Also, it looks as if it has been revarnished. A slightly ... moredarker Winston green really only seen when directly in the sun. All sections fit perfectly with the correct gap between each. Rod fished maybe 2 or 3 times at most. I fished this rod yesterday and the sweetness of the older IM6's is unmistakeable. The last picture is what I caught& quickly released. Manufactured 10/17/1990. The rod has a ding, it protected the rod and that is what it is for. This rod has been fished but it is in great condition as the pics indicate, there are some small scratches from normal use.
