Rep Samples are samples of the original products that have been primarily carried around and shown to different fly shops around the country. Most rep sample rods have only been cast in fly shop parking lots or lawns for demonstration or testing purposes. Sometimes rep samples are used on the water for demo/trial purposes. Rep Sample rods do not come with the unconditional lifetime warranty. They are. In most cases, exactly the same product as what is on the shelf and only in some instances are they slightly different. If they are different, we do our best to mention any difference between the sample rod that is for sale and the actual products we sell in the shop. In the case of this Winston 590-4 fly rod, there is no difference between this rod ... moreand the production model. This is a 5-weight. 9-foot, 4-piece fly rod that has been lightly used, but is in very good condition overall. This Winston fly rod is in beautiful condition overall. The rod looks to have been“lightly” used. And all four rod pieces look great– with light sign of wear. Everything looks nice around each ferrule and guide and the hardware is also in excellent shape. The cork grip shows very light discoloration simply due to normal handling. This rod comes with its original rod sock and tube. The rod sock does have the rod weight and length written in marker(see picture) There are no other markings on this rod. Sock or tube to indicate is a Rep Sample. The fastest-action 5-weight Winston’s ever made. This 5-weight rod is ideal for big trout and smallmouth bass. Winston discontinued the BII-MX model just this year– to many anglers dismay. The BII-MX was a very popular rod among fly fishers. The“B” in BII-MX stands for Boron. Boron is five times as strong and twice as stiff as steel. This is a Thomas and Thomas graphite XL4 model fly rod manufactured 7 or 8 years ago. It is a"demo" rod that I purchased from a dealer. It has been fished. And the grip shows normal soiling from handling. The rod is unmarred and in pristine condition. The XL4 series was designed as an entry-level rod for T& T. And retailed for around $375. It is a medium to medium-fast 5-weight that is 9 feet long and breaks down to 4 pieces. It has a Western grip and a wood insert in the reel seat. The wraps match the dark blue blank. It comes with the original rod bag and an aluminum after-market rod tube. And both are in"like new" condition. I am offering this rod for sale as the product of a failed romance between my oldest daughter and a young man. He was once thought of as the"one" before his name became unmentionable ... morearound here. Before he was dumped. Thinking I finally had a future son-in-law to train, I gave this rod to him as a Christmas present. Like everything else, he talked a good game about his interest in fishing, but his actions did not follow.
