This model has an downlock nickle silver seat with a Zebrawood insert. Rod blank is clean. A couple very minor cosmetic surface scratches. All connections have a good fit with no splits or cracks on the female ferrules. Cork shows expected soiling from use but is sound with no soft spots. All sections are correct length. All sections have matching serial#s. The only condition issue is the first snake guide is a little tweaked as seen in the last pic. It is not broken and the guide foot is still secure. there is a blemish on the wood insert that will be covered and not visible when a reel is mounted on the rod. Bamboo Fly Rod. E. W. Edwards 4 section(two tips) 9 ft. long for a 6 weight line. The rod has been refinished. NB: Edwards rods are often disputed for authenticity. So I had an expert friend tell me it is"likely" a Eustis Edwards rod, even though it is unmarked or the name has worn off over time. The ferrules and reel seat speak E. W. Edwards. There is no guarantee that it is absolutely an E. W. Edwards rod, but again, everything matches. Also, I have other Edwards' rods with signatures and this rod fits. The rod has been completely rewrapped in silk nearly identical to the original wraps that were tattered. The reel seat is wood. And at some time in its history, an owner of this rod made the notch in the seat a little deeper to accomodate the foot of his/her reel. No effect to its performance but should be mentioned. The cane ... moreis sound and the rods casts a 6 weight line smoothly. All the ferrules are original& nickel silver. One tip is short and is 30 inches long. the other tip is short at 35 inches long. The butt and mid sections are equal at 36 inches each. The varnish shows some crazing when looked at closely. But the patina on the rod is a beautiful, rich brown tone. This is a custom rod. Built on a Sage blank, using high quality components, by Bob Claypool of Deep Creek Rods in Phoenix, Oregon. Sage RPL+ 690-4 Graphite III B fly rod. 9 ft. long. 4 piece, rated for a 6 wt. line. Up-locking. Single ring, reel seat with a nice burl wooden insert. Nice quality cork rod grip with composite ends. Dark brown color. Cloth rod sock only. No rod tube. This rod has been lightly used and has a couple of minor scuff marks on it. But nothing that affects the strength, durability, or integrity of the rod. This is a very fast action rod. Very stiff. I have not personally cast this rod. My understanding of the RPL+ is that it's an RPL blank. With an extra wrap of material in the butt section. I understand it loads better with a half or full size heavier line, such as a 6.5 wt. or a 7 wt.
