The SS Series were made by Daiwa in limited edition in four sizes, the SS2000, SS3000, SS4000 and SS5000. They were Daiwa’s top of the line skirted spinning reel series, above even their"Gold" Series. In addition to the aesthetics the SS Series had the additional functionality of a switch to offer an optional silent retrieval mode with the anti-reverse engaged. These SS Series reels are hard to find and are popular with collectors. New in box they can be found to be listed for several hundred dollars on Ebay. And used are also highly valued due to their high quality construction and performance in actual use.
