The outer chrome rings are not cracked. I bought this reel off of E-bay about two years ago. I removed the old fishing cord that it was spooled with. My plan was to use this reel for high speed wahoo trolling on a short bent butt rod. After doing more research on the wahoo high speed trolling I decided to go with a Penn 80 International reel for an even stronger drag system which is needed for high speed trolling. Paypal only. This is a used vintage Penn Reels Senator 9/0 fishing reel that is in good condition for its age. Please see pictures. The last picture is of the yellow handle torpedo knob showing a brown crack in it. This same picture also shows some scars on the handle(chrome part) where this yellow torpedo knob attaches. The outer chrome rings are not cracked. I bought this reel off of E-bay about two years ago. I removed the old fishing cord that it was spooled with. My plan was to use this reel for high speed wahoo trolling on a short bent butt rod. After doing more research on the wahoo high speed trolling I decided to go with a Penn 80 International reel for an even stronger drag system which is needed for high speed trolling. Paypal only. I believe it is very old based on the other fishing items at the sale. Everything works, pinion, drag, etc. are fine. Shows its age with the rust and corrosion on it. Here is a PENN SENATOR 9/0 Rod and reel combo. Works great, looks great! The rod and reel assembled measures 66" long. The reel is marked as shown, the rod is also a Penn and marked as such, see pictures. I checked this reel, it is smooth, quiet and everything functions correctly. The rod is a little dirty but eyes are good and windings are tight and original. Even the decals are still on the rod, this combo has not been used much. I think this may be a Tuna rod and reel but would work for most saltwater fishing. See photos for any other details and email any questions. White spots are camera flash. Note, the rod will be mailed in a thick cardboard tube and the reel in a separate box so I am somewhat guessing at shipping cost. Up for auction is a combo deal- 1) A well working elec-tra-mate Hawaiin 1200 and a vintage penn 9/0 senator loaded with 65lb suffix 832(approx 2000 ft of line) The rod-butt IS NOT FOR SALE- it was used for illustration purposes. I originally purchased the combo from an old fishermen year ago. At the time of purchased. I had the reel serviced by penn and the electramate serviced also(ie all bearings checked greased/lubed and chain) I used it for deep dropping for tilefish, grouper, and other deep fish species. After each use, it was cleaned and well lubricated. The reason for putting this up on auction is that I just purchased an inshore boat and will not be deep dropping anytime soon. My loss your gain. The electramate has no cracks and well cared for. Penn Senator Big Game Reel Larger Than a 6/0 Smaller Than a 9/0 ???
Normal 0 MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 Welcome To My Auction The item up for bid is one(1) Penn Senator Big Game Reel. The information source I am using for this item description is a 1967 Penn catalog. The side plate on the reel is marked 114-H which would indicate a 6/0 special Senator reel the problem with that is although the plate diameter is correct at 4 1/8" the spool width on the reel I have is 3 1/2" rather than 2 3/4" which it should be. Interestingly from 4/0 to 16/0 there is no 3 1/2" spool width. In addition to that the spool is not chromed up as it should be. The reels weight comes in a 44oz. which is actually a little light for a 6/0 which weighs in at 48oz. the difference could be that an after market reel seat has been installed as pictured. The reel itself is in very good condition with no pitting to the ... morebright metal and no cracks to the case. There is some superficial scratching and use marks that are consistent with use. The reel functions well and works smoothly. If anyone out there could offer any insights on this reel I would appreciate it.
