SPRING:
Excitement is in the air when Spring finally arrives: the ice is off the lake and the fish are hungry! Fishing season opens on Lake Nipissing on the Saturday of the Canadian Victoria Day long weekend in May.That’s when the engines start, the lake is crystal clear, and the race is on to ‘catch the big one’. Take your boat out into sheltered Callander Bay, or venture out into the ‘big lake’ for some world renowned Lake Nipissing fishing! Back at your cottage, you’ll have supper ready in no time on your own personal BBQ. Grab a drink, watch your favourite game on your 32" flat screen TV, or relax by a crackling camp fire– all cottages have a firebowl, and our communal firepits are great for groups.
SUMMER:
Summer has to be our favourite time of year! The groups of family and friends begin to arrive to enjoy some R&R, continue with the great fishing, and enjoy the many activities our resort and area have to offer. Enjoy a lazy day on our private sandy beach, take out one of our canoes, paddleboat, or kayak for a ride, or just float around on one of our inner tubes. You can sit on our 2500 sq ft deck that extends 80 feet into the water (largest on the lake) and enjoy the sunshine on one of our many lounge chairs. Bring down some lunch to enjoy under our covered gazebo, or cook it up on our deck’s BBQ.
FALL:
Fall truly is a spectacular time of year! The leaves are changing to rich autumn colours, the air’s a little cooler, and there’s still time for fishing! Enjoy our discounted rates and the convenience of having one of our well maintained and equipped boats ready and waiting for you. You can also bring your own boats to our safe, secure marina. The fish are getting ready for another long winter and they’re HUNGRY! We have the live bait you need to catch ‘the big one’, as well as the facilities to fillet them up for the big fish fry. Come on up!
WINTER:
Even though we would love to enjoy our beautiful summer weather all year long, the lake always seems to want to freeze over! Well, here at Sunbeam Bungalows we know we can’t beat it, so we find ways to help you enjoy it. If it’s ice fishing that interests you, snowmobiling, cross country skiing, or simply a winter getaway, we’re here to make that happen. Just ask us for information on the activities that interest you. We can also provide a warm and comfortable place to stay: starting January 1st, through to mid March we offer deluxe winterized accommodations in our 2 & 3 bedroom fully equipped, housekeeping cottages.

There is an abundance of pickerel (walleye) perch, smallmouth bass, muskie and great northern pike. There are also largemouth and rock bass, yellow perch and a number of other fish species.
We will point you in the right direction to find all the great fishing holes with your complimentary coloured map of the lake. We take our fishing seriously and we’re here to make it memorable for you!
We can say with pride that our fish cleaning station is the best on Lake Nipissing - equipped with fillet knives, cutting boards, running water, freezer service, and bags for your fillets. We also have fishing licenses, and live bait available as another convenient service to you.
The spring fishing season opens every Canadian May long weekend from mid-May to the end of June. Luckily for you, we have the best fishing holes right here in sheltered Callander Bay just off our shores.
The summer months of July and August continue to be a great time for pickerel (walleye) and also lead into the bass season. They may like the rocks, but we know which rocks they like and how to find them.
The fall season is the best time for sport trophy fishing of Muskie and pike. If you’re up for the challenge, your patience will pay off big time!

Our well-maintained 18 foot fibreglass boats with 25 hp electric start Mercury motors will take you to your favourite fishing holes quickly. They are strong and stable and will handle ... moremost water conditions with ease.
They have two comfortable swivel seats, fish finder, anchor, bilge pump, lights, CSA approved life vests, and safety kits.
Your own personal Sunbeam Bungalows boat and motor is included with your cottage rental in the summer months, and packaged with our Spring & Fall packages. We also offer daily rates if you just want to test your luck for a day. You may also have company joining you during your stay who may require a boat and motor for the day- if so, we would be happy to look after their needs.
Boat launching
For those wishing to bring their own boats, just let us know at the time of your reservation- we have a well protected marina with ample lighting and docking spaces, as well as a sheltered launch ramp into deep water. Our summer weekly accommodation rates include boat(s)/motor(s), however, if you prefer to bring your own boat at that time (late June - early September), we will gladly provide free launching and docking for up to 2 personal boats. Additional boats and motors are also available at daily or weekly rates.
