He used to fish near Algonac Michigan for muskie.Walleye,pickerel and what ever else would bite. I am not an expert in this area of collectibles. I will try to describe the item to the best of my ability. The rod measures approximately 36" long. The reel is about 5 1/2 inches in diameter. It has two bakalite? knobs. The line appears to be copper or brass. It is a braided line. The reel has a unique braking system. The rod has a wooden handle. Everything is in working condition. This little size 60 Atlas Portage reel is rated an A8M8 reel because it looks good and will display nicely; it is only in good mechanical condition- the clicker is weak. Vintage Ocean City Mfg. Trolling Reel with braided silk line
I don't know much about this reel. Possibly a trolling reel( and made by Ocean City Mfg. USA. Appears to be brass and is loaded with some of the older braided silk line(oiled) with a nylion leader. The frame is true to the spool and all spins well. Freespool lever seems to work fine. I can't seem to locate a drag mechanism if there was one.
