VTG My Buddy TACKLEMASTER Steel Tackle Box Fishing Storage Case Antique Bakelite
As you can see it has had some good use! Up for auction is this vintage(antique? My Buddy TACKLEMASTER Steel Tackle Storage Box. It has a really pretty blue finish(yes I'm a girl) and the original My Buddy TACKLEMASTER with a picture of a fish. Still on the lid-in AMAZING CONDITION(the sticker) The handle is in EXCELLENT condition, looks like BAKELITE to me but I am not positive? Handle is attached with brass facets& they are solid and secure. It has some slight rust patches on the outside, and inside, see the pictures.The bottom also has rust along the perimeter of the raised base, no rust(holes) goes through the steel. The bottom also has rubber disks to raise it up, one is completely worn off, two others are somewhat worn. 3 others are somewhat worn but intact. these could easily be replaced I think as they appear to be just simple ... morerubber disks.When the lid is open, two compartmented shelves on each side also open simultaneously and there is more storage in the bottom.The shelf hinges are in very good working condition, secure. THERE IS A WORKING LOCK AND A KEY! The previous owners name is taped on the inside lid but can be removed, as it is that type on kind of tape. All the hinges, lid, closures, etc are in very good working condition, solid& stable. I don't see any dents at all. There are some scratches, it could be cleaned up some, maybe some cork down on bottom& on the shelves would be nice? Wow. This is a very unusual piece! A must have for the die hard tackle collector. It is a very early brass tackle box believed to be from the 20s but can not be verified. Very good chance this was a one off. 14" long x 3 1/2" diameter. The tag plate reads as follows"Tacklescope, reg us pat off, patent pending, Barry, Muscatine, Iowa, no.2" I do not believe the patent was ever approved since there is no record that I can find of it. The box is well constructed using heavy gauge plastic and all metal parts are aluminum. The box itself measures 18.5" long x 10" wide x 12" tall. This is an outstanding estate find and one of the nicest tackle boxes I have ever had. This is an antique. Circa 1940, Plas-Tak" brand art deco era tackle box- is a hard plastic material that is marbleized green to white. I found this in an attic, I do not think it has been out in the weather. The box is in very good condition, no cracks or chips, the cork lining is bad in a couple of the slots in the tray, but of course it can be easily removed or replaced. The mixed contents are also on offer as they came with the box. The box is compact in size and has a long leather strap. It has an unusual way of being opened. First the lid is lifted and then the front panel folds out in order to reveal the interior. The interior has a top shelf that is designed to hold 5 cylinder shaped containers. These containers are plastic and have black Bakelite lids. Under the shelf there is a section that can house whatever needs to be stored. Judging by the style of image on the front of the box and the design of the box itself including the leather strap– it looks to be from about the late 1940’s– 50’s. CONDITION The box itself is in structurally very good order. There are no splits. Dings, etc. The clear plastic containers with the Bakelite lids are also in good order and they too are free from splits. Cracks, etc. The catch on the box works well and is in good functioning order The leather strap has life left in it and is fine. The vintage contents of the box appear to be fine as well. Vintage Antique Fly Fishing Tackle Box Metal Outside Wood Inside.
Up for bid is an old fishing tackle box. The box has no marks as to who the maker was and was owned by a ww1 vet who was still fishing into the late 50's" I have his old fishing licence up for auction on here right now" so this could be from a broad time period. I even thought he may have put the wood inside and made it a tackle box. The outside is a Green Metal and it has some rust and paint loss on the top. Note the 4 screws on the top of the box that hold the wood into the top of the box. The bottom and the sides have some paint scrapes from being used. Inside the top of the box is lined with wood 3 pieces of cork for hooks or flys. There is also a small wood piece that your leaders could slide down behind to hold them into place. The bottom is also wood with six compartments. The dividers are glued into place. There is some ... morelight dirt wear on the inside. I'm not sure the maker on this box. It's 16" by 9" by 9" Your seeing it the way I found it. This was in some boxes I dug out. Most of the spoons are old USA made spoons. Some were punched to allow air bubbles to flow through. Old Thompson fish skinner in the bottom. The green& yellow are not painted in if I'm seeing it right but original to the box. VINTAGE ANTIQUE HEDDON TACKLE BOX- A real nice survivor that still has a lot of life left. This is a high quality item that has survived in great shape. I swear you can smell the 6/12 mosquito oil on this thing! I have been told by an expert that this box dates back to pre-1928. It was called the HEDDON OUTING HANDY BOX. And is quite rare in this condition. Everything works except the right hand latch has lost its spring action. However the lid stays closed with the other 2 doing the job just fine. The key was probably left on the seat of some old wood fishing boat years ago. The triple hinged lid opens nicely to display 2 large shelves. It measures 16" x 16" open and 7" x 16" closed. The drawer hinges also work very nicely. It has plenty of army green patina from many fishing trips. Who knows where this thing has been. ... moreThere is very little if any rust. The Heddon logo decal is just barely there but visable(see photo) Walking with this in hand you notice how very comfortable the handle is. It is all metal and weighs 7lbs 5oz.
