Offered for bid is an estate auction find; it is a 1950s Simonsen Metal Products tackle box in pretty good condition. Picture#5 shows a close-up of the label that says"Simonsen Metal Products Co. Trademark N1K1, tackle-tool, band-film, Boxes of quality" with a picture of an Irish Setter(I presume) in the center. Both sections of the lid open out smoothly and pull with it two trays. One of the trays has a smaller"toolbox within a toolbox" sort of set up with its own lid and latch. The exterior handle, latches and padlock hasp are original to the box. It does show some signs of wear and use, but nothing I would call objectionable. It measures eighteen inches long, by thirteen inches tall, by ten inches wide and weighs about seventeen pounds. And does not seem to close completely(the locking hook won't go in, I think because the lid is pushed to far back, but I didn't try to close it too hard as to risk locking it, so I'm not entirely sure) Outside has scratches and staining. A little cob webbing inside. The inside of the locking hardware is rusty, dirty and has lint in it. The shelf that connects to the box and the lid is missing. It has a 12-inch measure on top of the lid which is well worn; the numbers are somewhat faded, especially the number 12, which is almost if not completely gone. an estate find that was used as a sewing box so it survived the war time metal drive.they got the key though.This everymans tackle box of the era is well built and I usually find them rusty and dirty from fishing.This one is real nice on the inside too. Vintage Poloron Products Metal Fishing Tackle Box Nice Collector New York
This is a vintage Poloron Product metal fishing tackle box with one tray. The tray has 5 compartments with minor wear. The exterior of the box has some scratches and dings from normal use. It measures approximately 14 1/2" x 6 3/4" x 6 1/2" It has the auto locking feature and has a spot for a lock if wanted. For sale is a vintage antique fishing tackle box manufactured by Master Metal Products. Of Buffalo, NY. If I compare this tacklebox to other antique fishing tackle boxes manufactured by Master Metal Products Inc. from the 1940s and 1950s Art Deco era on a scale from 1 to 10 this tacklebox would fall into between a six and a seven. With most tackle boxes from this time era either missing the collapsing lure tray or the exterior locking mechanisms. This tackle box is not missing anything except for the key to the exterior locking mechanism. As far as paint goes. With the exception of the bottom this tackle box has retained 80-90% of the paint and please note the paint is original.
