Vintage UMCO 173U Tackle box, Very good condition
Photo is actual item in auction. Condition would be excellent if not for some cracking in a few places in the black tray liners. Even that is not excessive. The box itself and hinges. Handle and latch are excellent. Note the spare reel holding bracket to the right in the top of the box. This box measures 17 x 6-1/2 x 6-1/2 inches. It is constructed of light but very strong fiberglass with anodized aluminum hardware. State of the art for it's time. Very good condition for over fifty years old. This was the go-to tackle box in the late fifties on the Gulf Coast of Mississippi. It withstood the salt water better than anything else available and was exceptionally well constructed. And very light in weight. I personally used this one for many years. A great way to display your vintage lures. For auction is a cool vintage UMCO Tackle Spin Box MODEL#173U& a load of vintage lures/fishing tackle. Vintage UMCO Tackle Spin Box Model 173U. T his box is UMCO-LITE. A lightweight, rugged box- ideal for fresh or salt water fishing. Durable combination tackle box has 3 full-length cantilever trays. 29 lure compartments for spinning lures& casting plugs. Has UMCO Lur-Gard black tray liners. Box Color: Sea Green Great"used vintage" condition(has small scuff marks. A small dent on the bottom, some left over tape on the inside of the lid should clean up nice with goo-gone- basically typical wear for a vintage piece as to be expencted) Works fine, tiers move, top opens and closes properly. Trays have a couple tiny dents but open and close no problem. Lures/tackle are all VINTAGE- this was from an estate sale. There's a Helin ... moreflatfish in the original box w/info sheet too. A mix of Helin. Cordell, Arbogast Jitterbug, Shannon Vibrasonic, Mepps, Thommen, Martin, Thomas Bouyant, South Bend Dippers, Rooster Tail and others- lures need a cleaning, I'll leave that up to the buyer. The only differences in the two is that the 173U is longer& contains one extra tray. Each show minor wear from age& use. Please look at all pictures to determine condition of tackle boxes for yourself. Each opens& closes well. The larger 173U box is missing the black plastic insert on top& the bottom tray shows plastic worm damage. The smaller 132U box shows slight dinginess on the inside. But should clean up nicely.
