Up for bid is an old fishing tackle box. The box has no marks as to who the maker was and was owned by a ww1 vet who was still fishing into the late 50's" I have his old fishing licence up for auction on here right now" so this could be from a broad time period. I even thought he may have put the wood inside and made it a tackle box. The outside is a Green Metal and it has some rust and paint loss on the top. Note the 4 screws on the top of the box that hold the wood into the top of the box. The bottom and the sides have some paint scrapes from being used. Inside the top of the box is lined with wood 3 pieces of cork for hooks or flys. There is also a small wood piece that your leaders could slide down behind to hold them into place. The bottom is also wood with six compartments. The dividers are glued into place. There is some ... morelight dirt wear on the inside. 84+ Year Old Wood Fishing Tackle Box - reels, hooks, lures, bobbers, and MORE
Please see the auction image for details. This was my father’s fishing box. Everything is at least 50 years old as he died in 1965 and had not bought anything new for years. He was born in 1906 so items cn be much older than 50 years. I pulled a sample of the contents of each jar. Wooden container, old Alka Seltzer bottle, etc. and set it in front of the container so you can better see what is inside each one. Notice the dry pork and lure-glow in addition to the State of New York. Conservation Department pins from 1930, 1936, 1937, and 1939. These go back as far as 84 years There is also a Shakespeare reel marked 23037 on one side and UNCLE SAM on the opposite side. The barbs in the fish hooks are remarkably sharp. I discover that while trying to get them set up for the photos. There are many lines with weights attached wrapped around wood ... moreof various sizes and shapes You will just have to look at the images to teel what all is in the box. I can’t describe it all as I am not sure of many things. There is one old black reel that has no identifying marks as to manufacturer that I can find. The only printed information seems to be MADE IN USA. If it was made in the USA. You know it has to be old. There were more fishing items in a sealed plastic bag. The bag contained more lures and STUFF. Please see the images. One of the lures had the following information stamped into it…WT Lowe. Buffalo, NY The box comes exactly as it has been for years. There is misc. stuff that was not described. Some hooks appear to be rusted and other items are dirty. The box and many of the contents are dirty. Besides the contents. Don’t forget about the wood tackle box. It is just as vintage as the contents. Also. The reels appear to spin smoothly and freely. I send my ebay items via Priority Mail.
