Vintage Largemouth bass mount taxidermy real skin 22.5" long on wood plaque
Vintage large mouth bass taxidermy mount. It is about 22.5" in length. I think it was made in the 1970s or earlier. I bought it at an estate sale. I am farily certain it is real skin. It measures about 12" from the dorsal fin to the bottom of its body. It was a large fish. The mouth is about 4.5" open height. I tried to clean it with some compressed air and some used dryer sheets to get the significant amount of dust off. I was not overly successful. It has flared gills. The biggest flaws are the fins that are bent in some spots and possibly have pieces missing. The worst are the right pectoral fin and the bottom tail fin. There is only an eye on one side. I am sure it was supposed to be like that. The back has some filler where it was put together. Again I think it was made that way because that side wasn't supposed to ... morebe seen. I will try to pack as carefully as possible to keep from damaging the fins any further. The wood that it was mounted on is not of high quality and there are only a few screws holding it on. Up for bid is a Taxidermy Largemouth Bass. This fish was caught in a Lake in Sumter. SC. This is a whopper of a fish measuring over 22 inches long and about a 17 inch girth. This bass was caught in 1993 as shown in photo 4. Which also has the person's name that caught it. This plaque can be removed by removing 2 tiny screws. This is an estate sale find and is being sold AS IS. I AM NOT a Taxidermist and know nothing about taxidermy. Please look at photo 9, it shows the back of the fish that is not shown from the front, does not have the eye and is painted black. This is a nice looking vintage largemouth bass taxidermy mount. It measures about 20" in length. And the real skin was used in the mount. There is a small crack on the top of the head area(pictured) which appears to have been repaired at some point and is barely noticeable. There is also a mark on the side of the gill area(pictured) I'm not sure if that was on the live fish or not, it's minor but still worth mentioning. Here`s a largemouth bass my ex caught in a private lake back around 2004 or so. I think it weighed 9lbs. give or take a few ounces. He had several from 8-10 lbs. This is one of a few I have left. It was done by Wildlife Creations in Fulton Mo. and cost me over $ 300.00 at the time. It measures about 21-1/2in. long with a steel tape and has about 17-3/4 inches of girth. Here is an awesome antique Largemouth Bass skin mount for sale. This huge fish measures 25 inches long and has a girth of 19 inches. This fish was caught at Lake Lochloosa in Florida on November 16th 1949. This fish is 65 years old. She is in great condition for being this old. The taxidermy and paint is awesome for a fish this old. The fish is not in perfect condition as there are a few imperfections with a couple fins. See photos. Florida, from Lake Miona in December of 1986. Ideal for a wall hanger in your Mancave/bar/cabin. This belonged to a friend who caught this fish and no longer has room for it in his new mancave. Taxidermy is well done, By Dolfi in Serrento Florida and cost $8.00 per inch back in 1986, and has original slight flaws like they all do. I wiped down, as it was dusty from years of hanging. Fish measures approx. 23 inches, but tail is somewhat curved, so possibly 25" Huge girth made this a heavy fish. What a impressive story for you bass fishermen to tell it anyway you want. Real skin Largemouth Bass mount. 19 inches. He caught this in Michigan around 2002 on a tip-up. Very nice condition as seen in photos. This was done by a professional taxidermist. White paint is slightly cracking at bottom of gills(its just the paint)clearly shown in last photo. Easy fix.I didn't even notice it until I took the photos. We heat our home with a wood burning stove most of the year so some items being sold may have a slight sort of campfire smell. We have only had one buyer bring it to our attention all these years. Largemouth Striped Bass Fish Taxidermy Mounted on Drift Wood 23 inches long Nice largemouth Striped Bass fish was caught in Missouri Ozarks. The striped bass is mounted on a piece of old drift wood. The bass from mouth to fin is a little over 23" long. The body is 7" tall( fins not included in this measuring) The top fin has been broken and leans to the side. Partially still there, the bottom back fin has a crack but still secure, the two bottom fins, 1 has a crack, still secure, the other is fine, one of the side fins is cracked back, and under the gills in the center is a crack, even with the damage, it still looks pretty good, the main damage that hurts the looks of this fish is the top fin, don't know much about taxidermy, maybe can be repaired, sold as is, the drift wood is in good condition, most of the skin is in good ... morecondition, the mouth seems to be intact and in good condition, definition to the teeth or what they use as teeth, and the eyes are in good condition.
