Vintage Largemouth bass mount taxidermy real skin 22.5" long on wood plaque
Vintage large mouth bass taxidermy mount. It is about 22.5" in length. I think it was made in the 1970s or earlier. I bought it at an estate sale. I am farily certain it is real skin. It measures about 12" from the dorsal fin to the bottom of its body. It was a large fish. The mouth is about 4.5" open height. I tried to clean it with some compressed air and some used dryer sheets to get the significant amount of dust off. I was not overly successful. It has flared gills. The biggest flaws are the fins that are bent in some spots and possibly have pieces missing. The worst are the right pectoral fin and the bottom tail fin. There is only an eye on one side. I am sure it was supposed to be like that. The back has some filler where it was put together. Again I think it was made that way because that side wasn't supposed to ... morebe seen. I will try to pack as carefully as possible to keep from damaging the fins any further. The wood that it was mounted on is not of high quality and there are only a few screws holding it on. Up for bid is a Taxidermy Largemouth Bass. This fish was caught in a Lake in Sumter. SC. This is a whopper of a fish measuring over 22 inches long and about a 17 inch girth. This bass was caught in 1993 as shown in photo 4. Which also has the person's name that caught it. This plaque can be removed by removing 2 tiny screws. This is an estate sale find and is being sold AS IS. I AM NOT a Taxidermist and know nothing about taxidermy. Here is an awesome antique Largemouth Bass skin mount for sale. This huge fish measures 25 inches long and has a girth of 19 inches. This fish was caught at Lake Lochloosa in Florida on November 16th 1949. This fish is 65 years old. She is in great condition for being this old. The taxidermy and paint is awesome for a fish this old. The fish is not in perfect condition as there are a few imperfections with a couple fins. See photos. Florida, from Lake Miona in December of 1986. Ideal for a wall hanger in your Mancave/bar/cabin. This belonged to a friend who caught this fish and no longer has room for it in his new mancave. Taxidermy is well done, By Dolfi in Serrento Florida and cost $8.00 per inch back in 1986, and has original slight flaws like they all do. I wiped down, as it was dusty from years of hanging. Fish measures approx. 23 inches, but tail is somewhat curved, so possibly 25" Huge girth made this a heavy fish. What a impressive story for you bass fishermen to tell it anyway you want. Largemouth bass mount live skin 22" 8.0 lb James River caught in the main river
Here is a nice main river caught 22" 8.0 lb live skin mounted citation Va. largemouth bass. Caught near the Annabell lee area of the James river. My father was working pilings that run perpendicular to the shore; the technique used to fool this citation is you position your boat at the end of the pilings; throw your bait near shore and retrieve the bait; this particular time he used a Rebel deep running wee-r: through the pilings occasionally striking a piling or two on the retrieve back. As the bait strikes the wood it glances off in an erratic fashion and suspends for a brief moment. That's when this trophy struck and the fight was on.fish lost. It's very effective and these main channel river bass put up a heck of a fight; they are strong. Early vintage Largemouth Bass fish taxidermy wood plaque head mount, fishing
Nice looking example of early taxidermy. Quality large mouth bass head and gill mount. It is old and will have some imperfections. But is overall nice and very collectible.
