Here's what I know about this guy. The plaque reads: June 1975 Lac La Ronge Canada. Sask. Good Time Fishing Ok. Fishermen! What is it? Salmon, Trout, Pike? I'm having trouble identifying this but have been told it may be salmon. Real skin mount. From end of tail to tip of mouth, it's approximately 33" long. Measuring HALF of the body, he has a girth of 16" plump little guy! This comes with the lure you see hanging from his mouth BUT it is easily removable in case you wanted to place your own lure there. I'm sue a taxidermist could remove this from the large mounting board and re-mount this to a more modern look, if you like. There is thin cracking on the bottom(see photo) doesn't seem to be a major issue. Mounted on a wood(pine? board that measures 36" across. Hanging hardware attached. I really tried to provide plenty of pictures to answer any questions you might have I really don't know much about this item for sure.However I assumed by the stitching in the back that it was real skin. It is a little bit beat up as you can see by the tears in the dorsal fin and some of the stuffing showing on spots on the body I don't know if these things can be restored easily or its okay the way it is. but would be great for your cabin, and I'm not asking you huge price so you can decorate your cabin without breaking the bank. Here is a real piece of Art and sporting treasure-you can't keep them anymore a big native Brook Trout from it's native waters in eastern Canada. Mount is old 50+ years old. And has signs of use, but is doing fine. This is not a modern repro or such. This is an old plaster filled/glass eyes mount As you can see. This is in it's original paint, it will have a new layer of laquer soon. This is not one of the new"comic book" looking trout. Lyons and O'Haver Taxidermist work is the best I've ever seen by far. The detail they go through just for this 16" fish tells you they really care. Check out the teeth in the mouth and the silver dots highlighting the scales. The tail looks translucent. Some one can use this to make a desk mount or just hang it up. And if you're into taxidermy use it as an aid to see what really can be done.
