Vintage 1970 Lake Trout Mount by Taxidermist Ken Hawkins You are bidding a 1970 Lake Trout Mount. This mount is in great condition for it's age. And has museum quality. This is a type of mount that you might find in a Bass Pro Shop or Sporting Goods store. The mount measures 41 inches long and 16 inches in height. You won't find many fish over 40 years old in this good of condition. Please look below for a detailed description of the mount. The mount has a taxidermy label on the back. Ken Hawkins taxidermy mounted the Lake Trout in 1970. Hawkins was a well known taxidermist that did work for 60 plus years. Hawkins and his dad, Jack, did several mounts for the Manitoba Museum, their first mount was done in 1943. The date on the label was hand written: 7-10-70, and the mount originally was for"Grandpa Hefner. This is truly a piece ... moreof history and would look great on anybody's wall! The label also has the address of their Taxidermy Shop, 1793 Main Street Winnipeg 17. Manitoba. This was"Canada's Largest Taxidermist Shop" and became known as"The Shop with the Bear on Top" This is an Awesome piece of Vintage/Antique fishing decor! The condition of the fish: The top of the tail fin has a little bend to it. The top of back two fins are in great condition. The two wall side fins look like they were broken away from the skin but have been glued back into place. All the fins show some wear but nothing really noticeable. The REAL skin of the fish is in really nice condition. The back side of the mount has a small crack. Please look at all the pictures before bidding. Here's what I know about this guy. The plaque reads: June 1975 Lac La Ronge Canada. Sask. Good Time Fishing Ok. Fishermen! What is it? Salmon, Trout, Pike? I'm having trouble identifying this but have been told it may be salmon. Real skin mount. From end of tail to tip of mouth, it's approximately 33" long. Measuring HALF of the body, he has a girth of 16" plump little guy! This comes with the lure you see hanging from his mouth BUT it is easily removable in case you wanted to place your own lure there. I'm sue a taxidermist could remove this from the large mounting board and re-mount this to a more modern look, if you like. Vintage taxidermy mounted real skin Steelhead Trout approx. 34" long with 18" girth displayed on a two piece swivel plaque so fish can be shown at a different angle if you want and has a little play in it so it can swivel. The wood plaque base is 21" long and 8" wide. Top oval part with the base is 12 3/4" high total and 10" wide. Fish in overall great condition with great color and nice clean mouth. Fish needs a little repair in the tail area as you can see, it has a split in it not a chunk taken out, otherwise the other fins look good to me. Taxidermy Trophy Male hook Jaw real skin mount Brown Trout 28inches
This brown trout was caught by me in Oswego New York over10 years ago. I remember getting him back the following year and calling him Frakenstien because the skin on his back was pocked and not like it was when I caught him. none the less this is the most impressive Brown I ever caught on my years of trips. He has been on my wall for a long time. he is a skin mount an is a bit loose where he is attached to the wooden plank.but still ok to hang. He weighed in at 19 lbs and is 28 inches long and almost 10 inches from dorsal fin to the bottom of his belly. we affectionally called these browns"Footballs" when we landed them. What a memory!

Rainbow Trout 20" Real Skin Plaque Mount Excellent. Very colorful condition. Has taxidermist sticker on bottom. One possible defect, but I think it is a natural feature. Rainbow Trout HUGE 26 1/2 Inch Real Skin 1 Sided Mount Antique 1940's Eye Appeal
Antique 1930's-40's real skin rainbow trout mount one sided. Overall for it's age excellent condition I noted no missing or broken fins. I did note a crack on a back bottom pectoral and slight cracking in the anus. The back side is scuffed up could be easily repainted even by a novice. I believe a trip to your local taxidermist could be very low cost to get this piece cleaned and back to full glory. Nothing like the nostalgia of these real skin antique mounts and this piece is loaded with eye appeal in my opinion.
