They have keel pads to help protect your boat and sewn-in lead weights for easy boat loading and unloading. These Slings are only one and a half years old and have been used in fresh water, in a covered dock and lifted out of the water except for loading or unloading my boat. The locking bolts on the clevises are brass in color and show signs of old paint but they are magnetic. Possibly someone out there in Ebay land can use these items for their repurposing ideas! I was told from the person that I purchased these items from that they came from a defunct Pittsburgh area steel mill!
