Uchi Lake Lodge

Ever dream of finding a secret lake where you can catch 40…60… maybe even a 100 walleye from one spot without moving your boat? That’s what a Canadian fly-in trip to Uchi Lake is all about! Lots of fat walleye… and big northern pike too, up to 25 pounds!

From the moment you arrive in Sioux Lookout, you will be greeted at the float plane dock and your gear will be loaded onto the float plane.  The Uchi flight will be the first one out, usually before 7 a.m., so you won’t miss any fishing your first day.  Occasionally, there may be flight delays, due to challenging weather, which we are not responsible for. Once on the plane, enjoy the 40-minute flight in a DHC3T Turbine Otter or 1952 DHC-2 Beaver as miles of unspoiled wilderness pass beneath you.

When you arrive at Uchi, Marilyn and Doug will meet you at the dock and show you to your private cabin.  While you ready your fishing gear, the Uchi crew will be busy preparing a hot breakfast.  As you enjoy your meal in the lodge, you can look over photos and topo maps with all the hot spots for walleye and northern clearly marked.

In no time, you’ll be headed across the crystal blue surface of Uchi Lake in a shipshape and reliable Lund boat, equipped with swivel seats with back rests, and a brand new Mercury motor.  Rest assured that all the gear is meticulously maintained, so all your time on the lake is spent fishing.

Uchi Lake is 12 miles long and you probably won’t see another boat all day because Uchi is the only lodge on the lake and there is no other access. So if you do come across another fisherman, it will be someone who sat across from you in the breakfast room. It’s like fishing your own secret spot.

After your first full morning of catching and releasing fish, you’ll want to make sure you have a rope stringer along so you can bring in a couple of fish for shore lunch. The meal is prepared on a beautiful rocky point a few miles across the lake from the lodge. Uchi staff do all the fish cleaning, cooking, and preparation, as well as providing fresh baked cookies and cakes for dessert.

And shore lunch isn’t just the first day…it’s every day of your stay at Uchi! All you have to do is show up around noon, get your favorite cold beverage from your cooler, and have a seat at the picnic tables under the vast blue sky. After enjoying the sweet, crispy golden walleye fillets, you’ll leave cleanup to the staff. You have bigger things to think about than dirty dishes…like huge walleye and pike!
