Estate Sale Find Two (2) Spincast Fishing Reel Eldorado Airex 1 & Eagle Claw 102
Vintage pair of fishing reels I purchased at an Estate sale in Texas. These are both old and used! One is an Eldorado AIREX Model#1(Division of the Lionel Corporation) This one spins smoothly. It has some line already on it. The line was exposed, so I wind it up and stopped. The other is an Eagle Claw Model No. 102, it seems to be locked in position and does not spin, so will probably need some work. A classic& very well preserved. Early BACHE BROWN MODEL#3"MASTEREEL" still in very good overall condition and dating from back in the 1950s era, composed of cast metal body with chromed front cup for the high speed, reciprocating aluminum alloy spool which held about 200 yards of 6 Lb Test monofiliment line, and equipped with and"out-ward& inward" style, folding"half bail" line pick-up arm, all turned by the collapsible handle located on left side of course, and designed to hang down as a true spinning reel, rater than sit on top of the Rod like the hybrid spin-cast reels of the era.See Photos) Slim& svelt Bache Brown"mastereel" 3 measures about 4" from front-to-back, approx. 3 1/2" from folded handle to outside edge of the chromed cup on opposite side from handle, and is about ... more4 1/4" high from base of the mechanism to the top of the 2 3/8" long reel foot. Condition is excellent of course and this beauty is functionally 99.9% still. In fact, we'd doubt if it was ever even mounted& used, based on a close inspection of the reel foot and spool. Gear ratio of this early Bache Brown Spin Reel is listed as"3.66 to 1" fast even now! and the Reel was made for"light lines" in the 4& 6 Lb. test range, and is also said in the ads of the era to hold 200 Yds of#6 mono line, so probably holds 25% more in 4# Test. though of course your guess is as good as ours there. The reel handle turns as smoothly as silk still, and the handle looks& folds up just like the old Mitchel 308, 300s, and similar French made spin reels of the 1950s era. Black paint is stillabout 99.9% with only the finest edge wear and on body, and some light"rash" on the lower back edge from resting there. Chrome is near perfect on spool cup, and spindle dead straight, plus the reciprocation and classic in& out of the spool woud lay the line uniformly& perfectly still as well. It still has the original bead to keep from reeling the line all the way in. The drag is a little sticky at first from not being used and you can see a tiny paint chip in one of the photos. This rod is in very good plus condition. The Airex decal reads"America's first and largest manufacturer of complete line of spinning tackle" The decal is 100% The ferrule is"popping" tight. The reel seat slides and can be placed on the grip wherever it is most comfortable fot the angler. I suspect that in an emergency this could be used as a fly rod. This has the classic fiberglass rod action. Collect it or fish it-it works both ways.

This old spinning reel is a model 3 Bache Brown Mastereel. It was made by Airex Corporation which was a division of the Lionel Corporation. It was made in the U.S.A. It is marked on the side of the reel and on the top of the original spool. It is in really nice condition. It works fine and has just some minor and some very light. Very minor surface corrosion in a few spots, very minor! The aluminum handle has most of the light corrosion, the rest is really nice. No reserve on this fine old reel. S&H is $6.00 in the U.S.A. The P.O. keeps raising their rates and I keep undercharging for the shipping, if I'm way over, I'll refund the difference. p.s. See my other auctions for a couple more old reels. Airex "110" bamboo spinning rod, made by Uslan
Today I am parting with my Airex/Uslan"110" This rod is as straight as it was when new. No"set" in this rod whatsoever. It's 71" long, which is correct and both sections are the same length. All of the wraps are perfect, no loose ends or fraying. The ferrules are perfect and"pop" when you pull the rod apart. Even though in one photo the rod looks to have a bend I can assure you its straight. The reel rings are clean and undamaged. The only thing I see out of the ordinary is there is a mark in the cork where the reel was mounted. There is no damage or pieces of cork missing. It's just a nice rod. This rod was used in a photo shoot for my Airex book. Shipping will be a bit higher than normal due to the length and weight of the tube I will be using to ship it. It is complete and has general age related wear to the finish but still is in very good condition for it's age. It needs to be oiled because it is a little tight when it is reeled, I didn't take it a part. It is just as it was found other than I washed it off and removed the old line that was on the spool. Bache Brown Airex Model#4 housing w/ rotor cup. Pinion, bail trip, AR dog and AR spring. Decent shape. Some scratches in chrome(to be expected it's from the 50's. Paint is VERY nice. Stem and foot are in perfect shape. Also contains rotor cup, bail trip, pinion, AR dog and AR spring. All in good shape. Some parts may fit other models such as the#3 Mastereel but I'm not completely sure. Sold as is! Please look over the detailed pictures before buying!
