Foss lure which is in excellent condition, however most all the writing on the metal box is gone; The next box containing a lure is the A.L. Foss Pork Rind Minnow No. 23 Super-is written on the box, however on the lure found in the box is an A.L. Foss but is marked a Dixie 14. So there is a possibility the lure and box do not match, but both are A.L. Foss. T his is a vintage circa early 1900s celluloid Al Foss Pork Rind Minnow"No. 4 Baby Oriental Wiggler" which comes in its original. Correctly marked tin box. Condition is considered to be EXCELLENT IN THE BOX, with 3 forms of paperwork. The lure has glass eyes which are perfect. There is some darkening of the lure which I have not attempted to clean. The box shows some wear, has great graphics, and is correctly marked on the lid and on one end. Paperwork includes a foldout which identifies Al Foss products, an advertising paper showing directions of how to fish with an Oriental Wiggler, and a small paper which reads"Keep This Screw Tight" This is a super nice package! I have owned some of his lures but this is the first one of his reels that I have ever owned. This reel is in the same shape that I got it. We have not attempted to clean it at all. I have been told that the handle is not original and that the spool is missing the thin aluminum arbor but that the supports are still there. Please look at the pictures as I have tried to show all of the reel. The foot has the number A496 on it. 19th Century Coin Silver Haddock Lincoln & Foss Vase 408g or Over 13 Troy Ounces
For your consideration is a fine antique solid coin silver vase made by Haddock Lincoln& Foss of Boston. Haddock Lincoln& Foss were in operation from 1857 to 1865. This vase is a beautiful specimen of Boston Mass silversmithing. It is engraved both front and back with a pretty pattern. The front is personalized. I am not sure of the initials as it is hard to read the Old English Script but I believe it is BW to MBW& ECW. It is dated 1842- 1867. The bottom is signed Haddock Lincoln& Foss. Boston and Coin The vase is in very nice condition and what really makes it stand out is the carved handles of solid silver with dragon or snake eating berries. see photos) The bottom is slightly out of round and hardly noticeable but see arrows in photos. It also has a slight wobble when set on a flat surface. This could be easily corrected ... moreby a professional. There may be a few dings but when polishing I noticed none. I have included very large photos for your inspection. For a piece that was made over 145 years ago probably shortly after the American Civil War it has been well looked after. The vase measures approx 7 7/8 inches tall and approx 4 1/2 wide(not including handles) it is hard to measure because of the shape of the vase. It weighs 408 grams which converts to 13.11 troy ounces. I purchased this for scrap but it is far to nice for that. I am starting the bidding slightly over the scrap value. Hopefully there will be a collector out there who knows the value of 19th century American Silversmith items!
