One Antique Salmon or Trout or Ocean Pflueger Reel. Is Marked on the Reel and it was Made in Akron Ohio. and a True Temper Trolling Rod. Montague Sixty Five Rod.Made in the USA But unable to read it.It is worn off. But the other same twin to this rod and reel is listed in my listings. I think these are old hand held trolling set ups. About 71 inches long total. Comes apart like it was not used much or stored very well. Reel has the very costly Stainless Steel Wire Line, Good for trolling or Ocean fishing. I don't know what pound test the wire line is.But looks very strong and in very good shape. Reel is marked No. 1558 Made in the USA. This is a vintatage fly reel in excellent condition.I received it used 20+ years ago and never used it.It comes with the box.Parts list,dressed floating line which is tapered, and the pamplet which describes the line,but does not give the size or weight.I did find a few pitted spots on the rear pillars(the round crome dowels holding the frame together) and rubbed them off with emery cloth.The reel is described as a heavy duty model designed for salmon, steelhead,bonefish,tarpon,ect.Large line capacity.Reinforced spool and back plate,large adjustable drag for extra braking capacity.Duel clicks,adjusable weight,and stainless steel line guard. The 1498 has1' pillars,a 4" PLATE. This reel belonged to my Uncle. It probably was purchased in the 1940's. Stored in the 1960's and not used since. It had old fashioned line on it. Not modern monofilament. That may give you a good idea of its age. Everything seems to work properly. Smoothly, and quietly. It has not been cleaned and oiled in decades. But. Available is a vintage Pflueger Temco fishing reel. The reel is stamped"free spool. surf-casting" and contains the bull dog logo. The reel has the leather thumb flap and is marked with patent no. 1.450,738; 1,559,496; 1,608,287. The metal parts have a very nice vintage patina color to them and there is some very slight surface corrosion here and there on the metal parts(more on the pillars and spool than on the end pieces) The reel has a very nice and audible click when put into that mode of operation. Overall, in fairly good condition and nothing unusual or unexpected. Reel is being sold as-is with no warranty either expressed or implied.
