Lure comes with a beautiful box end stamped"S7100" The lure has two fine age lines and the box has slight damage in two small spots on the top box(difficult to photograph) The box has no edge wear and corners are perfect. This GLASS-EYED lure itself appears to be un-fished. I can't say for sure if the box is correctly coded for this color. Shur-Strike color charting is extremely complicated as everyone knows. All I can say is this lure came from a close friend and all other lures he gave me were originally bought by him and correct. Satisfaction or money back. I talked with a Shur Strike collector and he said the earliest Shur Strike catalog he had seen was from 1932 and this lure was listed there. Shur Strike only made the round nose for two more years after that and then went to the flat nose. He only knew of about ten that had shown up in collections. ANTIQUE/VINTAGE FISHING LURE/CREEK CHUB/SHUR STRIKE RIVER MASTER/ OZZYLURE # 002
The story on this and my other Creek Chub/Shur Strike lures is quite interesting. The Creek Chub Bait Co. closed the factory doors in 1978. Other companies have since bought the name and some lures under the Creek Chub name are still produced. This lure and others like it were salvaged from the factory at the time of the closing by the great grandson of one of the company founders. Carl Heinzerling.The lures were in the primer stage ready to be painted when I bought them from the great grandson. The lures were in storage from the 40s and 50s which is when they were last produced. After some searching, I was able to locate some hardware for these lures and began to paint and assemble them. The Shur Strike River Masters came in 2 sizes, the 2 5/8" and the 3 1/8"This one is the smaller one, Some of the lures do have the original diving ... morelips as I was able to find some of these. Others have a Vamp style lip. I made no attempt to reproduce any of the original paint schemes, I enjoy the painting and try not to duplicate any. These make wonderful gifts, display nicely in the den and have an interesting history. The box has a top label and 2 end labels. One end label is a photo of the lure inside while the other states the model of the lure. There is also an inside label with a short description of the history of the lure. This box label is somewhat different than all the others due to the fact it is one of my first ones, it is in fact, the only one with this style label. There is obviously a limited supply of these lures. Shipping is free anywhere in the United States. The white primered lure is not included in this sale. LURE MARKINGS: The Pikie is not marked and believed to be a C.C.B. Shur-Strike lure. The exact age is unknown. PIKIE" LURE CONDITION: The lure measures aprox. 4-1/8" ... morelong. Both TACK eyes have just a little rubbing. The right eye has two small paint chips. The Red Head areas are in very fine shape with no serious nicking. The white body areas have(11-12) total nicks and impressions scattered throughout. These are small general use nicks and tackle box impressions. The hooks and hardware are fairly clean. listed is a creek chubb shur- strike jointed pike minnow with the shur- strike box. this is not the correct box. the box is marked sinking shur- strike-2 sinking. this is how i found this lure and box so i will sell as a set. the box has a small slice in the top but overall nice colors and good edges. the lure measures four and a half inches. long
