Vintage Antique Premax Steel Rod w/Wood Handle Circa 1930-1940's Fishing Rod
This is a vintage. Antique Premax Steel 48 in. rod in very nice condition. It is circa 1930's to 1940's. It has a tempered steel rod and diamond knurled walnut finished wood handle grips. The rod and the front part of the handle is in a burgundy color and the hand grip is a natural walnut color. Has a few scuffs. But minor stuff. It has a patent number 2206019 and a label or decal that says"Premax Made in Niagara Falls USA. Check it out in the photo's. I have seen a few of these but never in this condition. This would make a great collectible or even a ice fishing rod. Shipping for this item is $7.99 within the USA and $12.99 outside the continental USA. Antique Primitive Premax Steel Ice Fishing Rod and Reel
Beautiful Rod and Reel straight out of the falling down. Old garage at a country estate sale, we bring you this wonderful old fishing treasure. It's an old(1920's to 1940's era) PREMAX of Niagara Falls. New York rod and reel combo. The 4 1/2" diameter reel is spooled with a thick cotton line. The rod features a double wood handle with grooves for good grip and a red rubber butt. Both eyelets on the metal rod are fine. The reel features a nifty fingertip spool brake/release for casting at the back. All in all it's in very fair condition. Usable as is! The reel spins freely. A nice part of a collection or vintage display. Take this beauty out to the pier. Overall it measures about 44 inches. And it's a two piece. Shipping will be in cardboard tube.

Here is a old vintage steel fly fishing rod. Marked"Bristol" on the reel seat. There are 4 sections total and 3 of the sections extend out and self-store in each other. Lenght when closed is about 40 inches. The overall extended length is about 107 inchs(almost 9 feet) All 4 of the line guides are good(maybe some minor bends) The base section is 6 sided(hexagon) The cork on the handle is damaged quite a bit. The metal handle butt cap is present. Both reel seat clamps are good. I see no other damage or repairs. I took several photos so you judge the cosmetic condition from the photos. Some wear from handling and use but overall quite nice condition. I do not know how old it is but it is vintage. It is a neat looking an unusual vintage fishing collectable. Steel rod with no manufactures marks that I can find. Rod is small at approx 4' 6" in length. Green paint on steel rod. Some nicks and corrosion on metal. Noticeable on metal guides more so than elsewhere. Cast metal handle with no cracks or damage. Cork handle has wear and some pitting to the finish. Reel is a Penn 77 made in USA. Bakelite sides and handle knobs. Turns freely forward and backward and click control works as it should. Vintage Combo TRUE TEMPER 4' 7" Steel Fishing Rod w/ ZEBCO 11 Reel "Very Nice"
I was at an auction one night and this man came in carrying the 2 poles I have listed. They were wrapped together with the old line you see on the pole. I had seen a couple of these steel rods but never had the chance to buy them. They really are a rare breed to find in any condition. They were so dirty I couldn't tell what kind of reels were on them. As you can see. It turned out to be the zebco 11. This one and the other one I have listed I bought them with the same reel on them. I've always enjoyed restoring antiques. Everything from cars to furniture. This was the first time I ever done fishing rods and reels. I have a new respect for those who take the time to restore them. If you collect these but have never cleaned one of them up, you need too. If you buy these at what I have them listed for, you should be arrested. It's ... moreagainst the law to pay someone to work for less than minimum wage. The time it takes to painstakenly restore these rods is amazing. Everything is so time consuming. When I restore antiques, I don't restore them to look brand new. If you like them that way, thats fine. I don't like to take all the character out of them. I like the fact that they have been used and when you look at the 2 I have listed, you will see what I mean. Believe me, if I wanted these to look brand new, I have the bead and sand blasters to do it and it would have been so much easier and faster. When I started cleaning this rod, it didn't take it all the way back to bare metal. The color you see is from where they tempered the steel and I left it that way. It is clean, it's just brown colored from the tempered steel. Personally, I think it looks better than shiny steel, which by the way, these rods were not shiny steel. Most of them were painted. I also left the copper winds around the eyes bare. Why would I cover them up. I didn't take the reels off in the pics, but trust me, it's polished under them and the co. logo is plain and clear. 4 Ft. Steel Rod RARE"Pistol Grip" Rod Up for your consideration is this RARE VINTAGE"PISTOL GRIP" 4 Ft. STEEL FISHING ROD with Unknown maker. This auction includes the 4 ft. Steel Rod with rare"Pistol Grip" carefully packaged for the winner. ROD MARKINGS: The rod and grip are Unmarked with an unknown maker to us. It's possible this is a GEP rod or made by some other famous name brand maker. The exact age is unknown but known to be vintage and most likely from the 1930's or 40's era. ROD MEASUREMENTS: The total length is just over 4 FT. at aprox. 51-1/4" Total Grip areas: 9-7/8. Pistol" handle areas 4-1/2" Reel Seat areas 2-3/4" ROD CONDITION: The rod is believed to be ALL-ORIGINAL with general wear and aging as seen below. The PISTOL GRIP looks very good as there are no cracks ... moreor hairlines on either side of the grip. The grip may or may not have lost it's finish thus exposing the white grips below. It's either that. Or the grips have old soiling along the edges of the white grip areas. The mottled Fore-Grip has a hairline crack on each side of the fore-grip. These are hairline cracks in the fore-grip part. We just left all alone and have not tried to loosen or take apart. Scratching and nicks from pliers are seen at the steel winding check. The rod works fine just the way it is and is shipped as seen with the pistol grip attached. This is a somewhat BLUE color STEEL rod shaft with general wear and aging including: paint loss, scratching, rubbing, light tarnish, nicks and all that's expected of a used steel rod. The steel is'rock solid' as no serious flaws were found in or on the steel. Both line-guides and the tip appear as original to us and are secured with steel wire wraps. Vintage 4 Piece Sunnybrook Steel Fishing Rod w/ a Pflueger Akron 1893L Reel
Vintage Sunnybrook four piece hollow steel rod made by Union Hardware of Torrington Connecticut with a Pflueger Akron 1893L reel. The rod is approx 50 1/2" long with a cork handle. The rod is straight and has all the line guides with the red inserts. All line guides are still solid and not bent. The cork on the handle has a couple dents but still looks good. The cap on the end of the handle is missing the two small screws to hold it on so it is loose and can be pulled off. The rod does have some paint loss on it but overall looks good for its age. The reel is fully functional and cosmetically looks good with a couple small scrapes on it. NOTE- I will ship the rod unassembled and wrap all four pieces seperate in bubble wrap along with the reel.

The rod is not bent or ding. It is a metal of some type. The handle is cork and is in fairly good condition with only a small area of slight damage. See the pictures. It measure 43 3/8" long closed and about 84" when extended out. It might go longer I do know. I did not force it. The handle is marked Bristol. Other than that it is original. Even the windings that hold the eyes on are made of stainless steel. The Zebco reel is not typical. It's stainless and well made. The Zebco fit on the rod is a little close but it works!

I didn't know anything about this so I took it to a fishing shop. The old timer who works there told me it's an old poaching rod. It breaks down to about 12" and can fit in your boot. A fisherman would then walk down to a pond or lake and poach. Completely un-restored. Steel has surface rust, looks like maybe red& black paint underneeth but I didn't want to try and clean it. This vintage Peerless Rod comes in the original bag. Manufactured by Richardson out of Chicago. I did not see a model number or date. All pieces fit together securely.And the rod looks complete.All the glass eyes are still present. This rod was well loved and used in it's time.The cork handle has darkened over time and does have some gouges taken out. I would say that about 10-15% of the original black paint remains. The bag is still complete.But does have 2 tears on the backside.There is also some staining in places.
