CANADA DREAMING...?

...About vast open spaces? Crystal clear waters and undiscovered lakes with unforgettable fishing? Abundant wildlife including moose, beaver, loons and soaring eagles overhead? Evening horizons illuminated by the aurora borealis? And best of all - no people? Stop dreaming.

Come experience OBA LAKE...

Located in northern Ontario 212 miles north of Sault Ste. Marie, this remote lake is 14 miles long with numerous bays, islands and 50 miles of untouched shoreline which borders Chapleau Game Preserve, the largest in north America. It's accessible only by train or plane and offers some of Canada's finest fishing for walleyes, large northern pike, jumbo perch and white fish. It's yours to discover at

WOODS CABINS...."Back to basics" fishing resort!

Located on 8 acres with a rare white sandy beach shoreline. We're the original fishing camp on Oba lake and remain a family-run establishment devoted to preserving its unique true wilderness atmosphere. There's no electricity, no noisy generators, just the haunting calls of loons and gentle waves lapping at the shore to lull you to sleep at the end of the your memorable day.

Tucked privately away in a little cedar-sheltered cove is a Finnish sauna and a hot shower - a popular post-fishing relaxation offered 2-3 times a week.

Our cozy recreation room is a nice place to share stories with friends and other fishermen. Hand made carvings by the local trapper and other handmade souvenirs are available here, and there's even great tasting Ice Cream.

The new fish house overlooks the lake and is the central location for sharing latest "hot spot" stories.

There's also a large B-B-Q grill for cook-outs, a sandy beach for sunning or swimming and even a diving platform. Basketball and volleyball facilities are on site too. You won't get bored.

You can go trout fishing on Oba river or borrow our canoe and explore the peaceful shoreline. For a memorable one day adventure, portage to even more remote Clark Lake or visit the 'ghost town' of Mosher. Pick wild blueberries and mushrooms or just watch the fabulous birds and other wildlife. We'll even give you free windsurfing lessons if you'd like!

There is no better way to enjoy your days catch than having a shore lunch on a remote island. There are unlimited beautiful locations on the lake and firewood is plentiful. All you have to do is put it on the grill and savour the unforgettable experience!

At our camp you can get up each morning anticipating an unbelievable day of fishing. Walleye and pike fishing is great throughout the whole season, while perch are easier to catch ... morein the spring. Whitefish are plentiful during the Mayfly hatch, which usually occurs the first week in July. It is quite unusual for guests to leave not having caught their limit. Each winter we make ice so your catch will be safely stored during the week. Then we'll pack your fish on ice to take home. A large freezer is available as well.
We provide you with a map with all the local "hot spots" and the best "up-to-date" fishing information. The lake is easily navigated, but for newcomers, guides are available to help. In our new fish house all the latest stories and fishing tips are freely shared.

We have 14-foot aluminum Sea Nymph and Naden boats, which are ideal for this lake. You can bring your own motor (motors between 8HP-15 HP are recommended) or rent one from us. We offer new 9.9 Johnson outboards. Your boat will be conveniently beached near the cabin ready to go in the morning.
