Vintage UMCO 3500 U Possum Belly Tackle Box 70 Lure Compartments Plus Worm Trays
Made in Watertown. Minn. in the 1960's and 70's this C-5 of tackle boxes big is enough(22" wide x 20" tall x 13" deep) to hold 70 lures in their own compartment(and many, many more if they share their spaces) plus 14 compartments for worms, harnesses, steel leaders, pliers, hook removers, etc. then there is a tray with 5 compartments measuring"1 x 5" x 3 3/8" for whatever. This complex of ten natural color aluminum trays is held by folding cantilevers that expand to expose all trays. It then measures 49 1/2" wide by 18" deep for easy access to all contents of the box including the generous 20" x 11 1/2" x 5" bottom section of the top box. The trays can be expanded one side at a time to save room and collapse into a neat 18" by 11" by 6 1/2" space for carrying and ... morestorage. All this is held together by stamped aluminum hinges, clasps and other brass colored fittings on the outside. Now the possum belly. It attaches with one clasp on each end and snuggles up to a foam sealing strip which is secured by an aluminum band affixed with rivets to the top box. The belly adds a cavernous 22" x 13" x 6" uncluttered space for extras we all need when fishing. The complete tackle box. This example would be in like new condition were it not for the heat damage on the left side of the rear clamshell where the crinkly green plastic skin was deformed. See the last picture. The area could easily be sealed with a variety of materials but that is a decision the buyer should be free to make. Truly an impressive example of the tackle box technology and ambition. VINTAGE Large 8 Tray Black Possum Belly Tackle Box Cooler-Nice Condition - UMCO?
Up for your consideration is a jet black 8 tray possum belly tackle box/cooler in very nice condition. I own many UMCO possum belly tackle boxes and this sure looks like one but I can't find any markings on it indicating that it is. I picked it up recently at an estate sale. The construction is identical in looks. Shape and quality but I have never seen an UMCO possum belly in black. The trays all have removable dividers to make your own size compartments except for the top left tray which has fixed compartments. It is very similar to the orange UMCO medical boxes sometimes seen which also have removable dividers in the trays. Kind of a nice feature. That being said I can't say for sure it's an UMCO box but it is certainly just as nice from the same era and style. Vintage UMCO Model #131-P Tackle Box with Lures
This is an old UMCO tackle box made in Spring Park. Minn. It's 12 by 7 by 4 inches in size. I picked this up at a garage sale with plans to clean it up but just haven't had the time. The box itself is in decent condition. It has 1 small hairline crack in the bottom corner less than 1 inch long. It also needs to be cleaned up because it has a paint splatter and a sticker or 2 that needs to be removed. The tray inside is still in good shape. There might also be a couple of useable lures. VINTAGE UMCO 133A TACKLE BOX ALUMINUM 3 TRAYS FISHING GEAR This auction offers an UMCO Corporation Model 133A aluminum tackle box with three trays. In very good condition. It measures 12-1/2" long x 6-1/2" wide x 6" tall. Excluding the handle. The three fold-out trays have plastic inserts. A few of the insert have cracks but still serve the purpose of keeping contents separated. The box has a few small dents and dings. Nothing major. The box has been cleaned, but could use additional cleaning inside and out, if desired. The handle and copper-colored hinges are in good condition. The latch is a little loose and can come open. This might be remedied by tightening or replacing the rivets that hold the latch to the side of the box. The latch could also be secured by drilling a small hole in the top side of the latch and inserting ... morea cotter pin or nail. You can also simply tie a piece of cord or even a large rubber band around the box to hold the lid shut in case the latch comes open. Nice collectible! Old metal tackle box loaded with lures. Most still show the brand and type print on the lures. There are also 2 knives that look to be hand made and a Southbend multi tool. It opens and all tools come out. No rust. There are some old packs of hooks and rubber worm with a hook through it. those are in orginal packaging. The reel is Made by Johnson and is called"Laker" Really have no use for this old thing. Hopefully someone knows something about the lures and can add them to their collection. Sell them.
