These were used to attract large saltwater gamefish such as Sailfish and Marlin. This lure measures 8 1/4" Has a diameter of just over 1" And weighs just under 3 oz. This lure is in fair to good condition depending on how you look at it. As the pics show there are some paint nicks on the left facing side, the tail, and a little bit on the underside. The eyes appear to be cracked.This is still a very neat collectible South Bend item and would show very nicely from the right facing side. Coming in the Green Scale with Yellow Belly design Heddon made the Wood Weedless Widows starting in 1928 running through 1948-this is an very early one that has no belly treble hook(only a single rear hook) No eyes, a metal front leader and no belly markings-Heddon started using the belly hooks on these in 1930- this is no doubt one of Heddon's so-called"Intro" lures as it has few of the later features when ... morethey changed the name to"Weedless Widow" The lure is in used condition and measures a little over about 2 1/2 inches. Excluding any hardware As previously noted. There are no markings on the lure's wood belly. The lure has the two wire prongs that were designed to protect the rear hook from snagging-as noted earlier.
