Our outpost camp is the only cabin on Mons and Dumbell Lakes.  Mons and Dumbell Lakes are in the Arctic watershed and are the remote headwaters of the Opasatika River. They have been ... moredesignated by the Province of Ontario as "Tourism Lakes" and are set aside and protected by the Ontario MNR to provide enhanced fishing and hunting opportunities for our guests.

There is no direct road access to these lakes.

Mons and Dumbell Lakes contain Walleye, Northern Pike, and Yellow Perch. Most of the streams in the area contain Brook Trout.

While staying at this cabin, you can fish, relax and possibly view and/or photograph some of the plentiful moose and other abundant wildlife found in this secluded pristine wilderness.

The cabin is a relatively new, 16' X 24', constructed mainly of cedar, and with solar power.

It has:

a separate bedroom for 4 - 6 people

roofed veranda overlooking Mons Lake

hot & cold running water

12VDC electric lights and fridge along with a propane stove (with oven)

dishes, cooking pots and utensils

wood stove with a glass door to keep you warm on those chilly nights

separate hot shower

There are 14' boats with swivel seats powered by Yamaha and Mercury outboards from 6 to 9.9. hp as well as a 17' Old Town canoe at this camp. Outboard gas is supplied.

Drinking water for this outpost can be obtained from a natural crystal clear spring that flows into Dumbell Lake which has some of the cleanest, best tasting water found in Canada.

Because of the low fishing pressure on this system (we allow only 8 parties per year), there is excellent potential for HUGE trophy size fish to be caught.

You will catch plenty of fish!

The Mons Lake remote outpost camp can be accessed by float plane (approx. $2000 per flight for float plane)

In order to save you money on your vacation, we will provide your party with transportation to this camp using our "Bush Taxis" (6 passenger 4X4 pick-up and 8 wheel Argo ATV).

Fishing Licences are extra for all packages.

Our archery moose hunting area seems to attract many trophy bulls during the fall "rut". The rut usually starts within the first 10 days of the open archery season. It is quite common ... moreto have 2 or more bulls respond to my calls.
Most shots are within 20 yards (the closest so far is 2 yards).

Due to our extremely high success rate, we have many people on our waiting list.

We can provide gun hunts, but only for calf moose.

Fishing: We have tremendous fishing just minutes from your cabin door on beautiful Pakwash Lake, with easy-connecting water to the English and Chukuni Rivers. ... more

Fish for Northern Pike, Walleye, or Small Mouth Bass in virtually any weather.

Pakwash is known as a natural "hot spot" for trophy Walleye, Northern and Small Mouth Bass. Due to a healthy population of fish, you can catch large amounts of quality fish daily.

Our prime location provides you with your choice of big lake, small lake, bay, or river fishing.

Pakwash Lake:

Pakuni Lodge is situated on the south shore of Pakwash Lake, 25 miles out of Ear Falls, Ontario. Pakwash is 12 miles long and 5 miles wide. It is a gateway to the Chukuni and English River as well as Camping and Bruce Lake.

Pakuni Lodge is the only resort on the south end of the lake allowing hours or days of secluded fishing. Many guests enjoy seeing bear, moose, wolf, bald eagles, deer and other wildlife while fishing.

The south end of Pakwash Lake has few hidden rocks or reefs which makes for easy navigation.

Pakuni Lodge:

With a warm, friendly, family atmosphere Pakuni Lodge is a small camp with only four cabins, spread out for privacy, that is family-owned and operated.

Modern, waterfront cabins with reasonable weekly rates. All cabins are housekeeping units with hot and cold running water, showers, toilets, appliances, and cooking utensils.

Well-maintained level grounds with centrally-located dock and beautiful sand beach.

Catch and Release Policy

At Pakuni Lodge, we promote catch and release fishing to sustain and enhance high quality fishing. We encourage the release of all walleyes over 18 inches. All guests of Pakuni are required to release all walleyes over 21”, all northern over 27.6” and all small mouth bass over 15” regardless of where the fish was caught. By releasing these breeding size fish, you will be doing your part to ensure there will be quality fishing in the future. By releasing a trophy size fish, you may be giving another angler the opportunity for a once-in-a-lifetime experience. For those who wish to display their trophy, fish must be frozen whole and intact for the taxidermist. We recommend that you consider a replica mount as an alternative. Releasing big fish is necessary to maintain the population and to ensure quality fishing for generations to come.
