OLDER model meant for a boat but i purchased a brand new ice transducer last year and used it as a buddy flasher to loan to my freinds so they would stop asking to use mine when we were fishing! My freinds have mostly all since bought their own so i no longer need this. This does not have the exact same features as the newer ice flashers but marks the same. There is some cossmetic wear and the lights seem to be a little dim. May just need brushes, i dont know. Like i said the unit still functions and is useable. Mag Shield(included additional accessory, but not needed) has scratching(see picture) but functions as intended. The FL-8SLT is a compact and lightweight depth sounder designed for serious anglers. Besides indicating depth. The unit also shows changes in bottom content and conditions. It can also discriminate between large underwater targets, such as fish, and smaller targets such as bait fish and plankton. The unit transmits bursts of high frequency pulses, which are converted from electrical to mechanical energy by the transducer. These"sound" pulses radiate from the transducer downward and are reflected back up to the transducer where the energy is converted back to electrical signals. The FL-8SLT then processes these signals and displays ... morethem. The circular display is accomplished by attaching an LED(Light Emitting Diode) to a wheel, which is then spun at a high speed in the clockwise direction.
