Columbia River Net weight. Used at the end of sagebrush root woven nets. This was at the end and many flat notched pebbles were used in the middle of the nets. Banded Net Weight is 6 X 5 3/4 inches. Granite. Some dark spots are dried moss from being in the water. Very few of these found near the Columbia. Included are 2 notched pebbles used in the middle of the nets. These two are 3 inch and 4 inch. These were more plentiful.just pick up a pebble and hit it a couple of times and you have the weight. Found in 1969. Personal find. Pair of 2 notched Columbia River pebble net weights. The larger one is approx. 3 inches long and the smaller about 2 1/4 inches long.both about 1/2 inch thick.These simple weights were made by simply striking another stone to the ends for a place to fasten to the bottom of sagebrush root woven nets. The original natives placed these on the bottom edges of the nets in the Columbia River. These were used along with the banded net weights to keep the bottom of the nets in the river. These are STILL my favorite lure and have always found fish for me when nothing else could tempt them. I have had these lures for some time and all have been used. Some show more wear than others but. Again, all are used. I am no longer able to fish due to my declining health and need to part with my collection for financial reasons ... moreas well.
