A number of years ago. I came across these fish and gave them to a friend of mine, who of course fishes a great deal. However, over the years, his wife has grown tired of them and feels they clash with the decor? Are you kidding me? So, as you can see, they've been returned to me to sell on eBay. They will indeed be missed. Two of the fish have a chip out of their tails that show up clearly in the 3rd photo. Most likely, those chips were a result of his wife's wrath or, at best, her neglect. I found this 3 fish stringer with several of A.W. Scaap decoys while visiting in Oregon. Although it is unsigned. I am thinking it is Schaap's work because of the fish that are used in the decoy Heron's mouth and others. It looks extremely similar.but, of course, I cannot know for sure. They are Vintage with original paint(the colors are also reminiscent of Schaap) and I would date it to the 50s. Each fish measures slightly over 10"inches long and 3"inches width and.6"inches in depth. They are rubbed which adds to patina. They are hung with cotton green line. Hanging they measure 31"inches in total length. They are very unusual and very striking. For Fishing enthusiasts. Folk Art, Primitive Wood Carving, Americana. Very collectable. It has suede leather straps on chest, with a that rustic look. It's just a great chest. This was bought at an estates sale. In Ouray, Co. It may need a little dusting when it get's home.
