It is in USED condition but was found in an old fishing shed. These old wood bait holders were used by commercial fishermen to keep the bait in their crab traps. Commercial fishermen here in Washington used these in their traps to keep the Dungeness Crabs from stealing the bait. The lid easily hinges to load your bait into it. Antique Katch-N-Karry Roach Trap- 1941 Fishing Bait Trap- Rare
This is an antique Katch-N-Karry Combined Roach Trap and Carrier made by Glassman Manufacturing Co. of Jackson. Tennessee, patent 1941. It's a very hard-to-find item and has a great litho of a bluegill and roach on the front. This one has 1944 on the label. The directions on the back read, KATCH-N-KARRY ROACH TRAP and BAIT BUCKET DIRECTION" Use Glassman's Katch-N-Karry Roach Trap According to Directions" Baiting" Bait trap with slices of banana and peelings, bread, raw potatoes, etc. Placing" Place trap in a roach infested place, such as grocery stores, basements, feed stores, or any other place where there is food and warmth, darkness, or dim light. Allow a couple of days for trap to fill before going fishing. When you are ready to go, simply pick up Glassman's Double Duty Katch-N-Karry by the bail and you ... moreare ready. When you return from trip, rebait trap; by this method you will have bait at all times. The trap_ you with a fairly comfortable seat. It lists for $375 in Warman's Americana and Collectibles book. It measures approx. 5 1/2" x 6" x 7" It's in rough condition with parts of the labels missing and some staining too. The image and logo on the front is visible with wear along the edges. One side has 2 splits from small nails running along the top. The mesh sides and bottom are in good shape, and the box is still structurally sound. The lid swivels. One Minnow sack fishing bait trap wire and fabric(I'm most sure this trap is vintage, but it looks like factory made) it is 8-7/8" diameter by 27" long, the throat is about 5" deep, net weight 8.8 ounces. It is somewhat soiled from being used or stored for long period of time, it is solid and usable.It hah what looks like mildew, their are a little rust protruding through the fabric caused from the two hoop wires that holds it open, It just looks like a minnow trap that has been used a good bit.
