The float is in minty condition especially for a working float and measures a little over 56 inches around which equates to an 18 inch diameter float. Note the picture that shows the float in the chair. The chair measures 20 inches between the arms. My scales say the float weighs in at just shy of 21 lbs. It was found by my family on Agate Beach in Port Orford. Oregon in the winter of 1969. There were a some great storms that year. The ... moremarker float is pictured with a very old clear 15 inch float to show how much bigger an 18 incher is compared to a 15 incher. Color is Coke Bottle Green and the glass is nice and clear. There are NO chips.Cracks, etc. Mark is#250 in the Glass Ball Comprehensive Guide written by Walt Pich. The mark seems a bit more exaggerated than the drawing Walt has in the book. The mark is nice and bold and again no chips. Walt states: This mark is a pre-war symbol found only on large glass balls. It is a combination of 2 kanji symbols. The top character means"fish" and the bottom character means"water" Only one 14 inch and one 16 inch have been recorded) The only recorded samples of this mark were identified in a Niigata-area fishing village on the Sea-of-Japan coastline. Both observed samples were scuffed and scratched. Indicating years of use. This is a rare collectors float mark. This float is larger than either one that Walt states has been recorded. This float needs to be packaged with care to make it to you as sent so I will double box it and use a lot of packaging materials. From Japan. An medium aquamarine/blue/green glass fishing float that has many bubbles, a 15" circumference(diameter of 4.77" It has a 2 1/4" diameter button seal which is marked. Usual chipping around button seal, and it has a sharp edge on the curlycue swirl. The first 5 photos were taken indoors and photos 6-7 were taken outside on a sunny day. This was a real working float- it is not a reproduction.

This vintage metal buoy. Which is 7 inches in diameter, was found on a beach in the Caribbean. This is a great example of a"working float" that is, one that was really used in the sea. This buoy has TWO lighthouses embossed on it, in addition to some crisp writing, including patent information. The writing also says“Made in Spain” and“La Coruna” This buoy is ready to hang in your office or in any corner of your home that you'd like to decorate! Little is known about this particular type of buoy—some think they are mooring buoys. Some think they are floats that would have been used in net fishing. I suspect they were used as both, though I’m still researching. I believe this float is from the early-to-mid part of the 20 th century. This is a Japanese fishing float that was actually used and has spent its life at sea. It has been picked out of hundreds of beachcombed floats to offer because of its unique qualities and characteristics. Its thick heavy glass contains impurities. A green glass fishing float with a 49 1/2" circumference including net and a diameter of 15.75" including the rope net. It is a two piece mold float. There are 3 crack lines ranging 3- 5" in length which probably occurred when the float was removed from the mold and cooled. There are 2 areas where the netting has broken. The first 5 photos were taken inside and photos 6-8 were taken outside on an overcast day. Weighs unpacked 14 pounds 2 ounces. This is a real working float- it is not a reproduction. This teal/aquamarine basket ball size float has a 33 1/4" circumference including the rope net with a 10.9" diameter including net. There are many bubbles in the glass. No seams, no cracks and a 3 1/2" button seal. The first 4 photos were taken indoors and photos 5-6 were taken outside on an overcast day. It has the usual chipping around the button seal. Vintage Authentic Crab Fishing Float/Buoy-Rare 1950's Plastic Buoy
This is a rare authentic 1950's plastic secondary crab pot buoy from the Pacific Northwest. They would place 2 buoys on the cages to facilitate low tide so they could locate their crab cages. During low tide. The larger float marking the cages/pots could often be 75 feet from where the pot was actually located. This secondary float would then appear and the fisherman had a better reference for where the rope was to grab. Not many of these survived and there were not many plastic ones. It has the original rope and still has bright colors. This has been painted over and over again as seen on the rope. It is in great condition for it's age and use with just a little paint chipping and the tape on rope is torn. The buoy measures about 5 inches in diameter and 5 3/4 inches long. The rope is 28 inches above the buoy and 4 1/2 inches below ... morethe buoy. These are great for nautical or maritime theme decors or for the fishing enthusiast.

T h e se authentic vintage glass fishing float were found on Hokkaido Island of northern Japan. 2 tiny floats. One with'Rivermouth' mark on the seal button. Both measure 1.75" 4cm) in diameter. No cracks or chips except those to the seal button as you would expect in a vintage float. I always photograph the floats against white in an attempt to get a clear picture and true a colour as possible. Measuring about 5 1/2" Wide. Is this Great, Antique Blown-9th Century Nautical Float, that is very crudely Blown, Has lots of bubbles, and even a neat pot-stone, with No Radiatiions. There are NO CRACKS, NO CHIPS, NO FORMS OF DAMAGE. I have been looking for these glass balls, out of Old Houses, here on Cape Cod, Massachusetts, when at Estate sales, etc. and they seem to turn up, for me. Beautiful old glass fishing float has been in my family for 50 plus years. Measures approx. 16" in circumference. Handed down from my Grand Dad's estate. Clear in color. Found on the coast of Oregon back in the 40's or 50's. There is a maker mark NW 3 on the bottom but I cannot read it. More information from a fellow Ebayer; It is American and the NW stamped on the bottom is marked from Northwest Glass Co which was out of Seattle. These were machine made and not freeblown. The foat itself is from the 1940s to late 50s era. Used mostly in the Shark fishing industry which had the floats being used at considerable depths which machine made floats stood up better than free blown due to the intense pressure.
