Vintage Wood Fishing Rig Leader Holder - 14 Slots
Up for bid is a vintage wood(possibly teak? fishing rig holder. It holds 14 rigs. It is used to store hooks on leaders in a tackle box for easy access. Hook is placed in the pointed slotted end with end of rig placed in a rubber slot on the base. I have not seen another one on eBay. I do not know the exact age of this item but previous owner(in his 60's) stated it was his fathers. It is approximately 6 1/2" tall x 1 1/2" in diameter at base. But the yoke is identical to a smaller net that I have the box from(Catch-O-Matic) so I am assuming that this is also made by the same company. Sealine folding fishline dryer Model O-2 with box and instructions Here's an ingeniously designed fishline dryer made by the Walt Hengst Co. of Sun Valley. California. I know this because besides coming with a box in very good condition, it also has the instructions/promotional piece as well. This complicated piece is in excellent shape. With all parts in beautiful vintage condition. I won't kid you, it's pretty ungainly to open up- same with folding it up, but every piece from the grip that holds the end of the line to the crank that spins the reel. everything looks good, feels good and works well. Designed with interesting spring clamps on the base that can attach the O-2 to camping table. Tackle box, truck bed, etc. the folding apparatus is held by swiveling hooks that release the spring-loaded reel from it's base to erect. ... moreAfter attaching it to something, the line is attached with a clamp on one of the rungs, and the line is laid on with a folding crank. The box is a typical taped and covered sleeve style box that is still absolutely solid. Although there is significant staining, some tape residue and the edges show noticeable evidence of scuffing and wearing through the decorative outer wrap. the reel is made of several kinds of metal including an anodized aluminum crank. Spring steel and cast-metal hubs. the stays and rungs appear to be plated with some splotching, but the finish is sound and there is no rust. There are scratches consistent with normal use, but it is robustly functional in every way. The instructions and promotional piece is an 8-1/2 by 11" piece printed on both sides. One color. Do read the instructions because is gives the clued to handling this thing safely, but bear in mind that the paper is old and brittle, although I would judge it to still be handleable with significant care. It's been folded from creation to fit in the box, and then incorrectly folded somewhere along the line. It has a distressing tear off the middle of the sheet which which doesn't look
