Plus the spare spool comes with a fast sinking line(not sure of maker) with a braided sinking leader and backing. This is not a new reel. But I'm the original owner and it has caught a lot of fish and works fine. Included is the original box, reel case, soft travel bag and instruction/parts list booklet. Wes Jordan-made ORVIS bamboo spinning rod, near perfect
Near-mint Orvis bamboo spinning rod. Made and marked by famed rod maker Wes Jordan in 1958. This rod is 2 pieces, one tip, 7' long and all correct, straight and original length. The finish is exceptional. Rod is a Battenkill grade(so marked on the butt) and was made for Ev Kimball by Wes Jordan(also so marked on the butt) serial numbers 23XXX on both butt and tip. I fished this rod twice last summer and it's a dream to cast. If you want the classiness of split cane for spinning, you won't find a better rod than this(and it's more than 50 years old! Comes in original sock and what I believe is the original Orvis aluminum rod tube, although there's no label on the tube. Up for bid is a Vintage Orvis Pebble Leather Knapsack or Purse of some sort. I bought it at an estate sale in Western North Carolina recently not for its beauty but more for its Vintage Look. It shows wear. Mostly on the front and the bottom corners as well as several ink spots on the front. Make sure to zoom in on all pics before bidding so it meets your expectations. I like it because,well, it was made by Orvis, probably in the USA and the color and design of the lining reminds so much of a pack being used in the field, as well as the 3 pencil or pen loops and the small pocket next to them,pic 6. The Orvis Fullflex Midge is a classic fiberglass fly rod. With Orvis Fullflex slow action for delicate fishing in small streams. The rod is 2 piece, 7 1/2' 5 weight with metal ferrules which I believe were only cataloged on this rod in 1968. The blank is Phillipson. This rod has many stories to tell as it has been well used and is in need of restoration, as can be seen in the pictures. The cork handle is split. Two of the guides have been taped in place and all are in need of rewrapping. It appears all guides and other parts are original and the ferrules fit snugly and well so when restored this would make a wonderful rod to fish. Vintage Orvis Umpqua Hart Bamboo Fly Reel NR 9 weight Vom Hofe Hardy Style
NO RESERVE AUCTION with Buy it Now You are bidding on a vintage 1970's Orvis Umpqua Reel anti-reverse RIGHT HAND WIND ONLY. This classic look has been taken from Vom Hofe and refined by the Hardy Cascapedia and now shows up in the Orvis reel. Perfect for your bamboo rod. The reel comes with 200 yds of 20 lb backing and 30 yds of WF9F. I am assuming the line is original. But looks fine to use as is. I have some research that this was built by Hart for Orvis, and that there were only 500 made, however, I can not confirm the 500 number. I am assuming that is where the number U302 came from Umpqua number 302 of 500. I have attached the Fireside Angler catalogue picture that describes and depicts this reel. It was sold in the 70's for $190 and the block leather case alone is worth at least $100 now. Also included are 2 spare cork drag ... morewashers(1 now damaged see note in bold below) however the two that are in the reel are fine like new. This reel is truly like new inside and out. Only thing I can see wrong is some marking on the inside of the leather case and a small nick near the U on the reel seat(See pictures) The nick may have occurred at the factory, I don't know. I was asked about the dimensions of the reel today. The diameter of the reel is 3 3/8" and the width of the spool between the end plates(without taking it apart) is 1 1/4" I am so mad at my self. After taking measurements and putting the reel back in the case. The reel foot hit one of the cork washers and snapped it in two. I thought I should tell everyone. The drag on the reel is awesome from free spin to"I can barely pull it out. I would consider taking this reel to fight large trout. Salmon, strippers, bonefish, whatever. In great gently pre-owned condition with one issue: the front snap closure has come apart- all the pieces are still there. But the"receiving" part has come in half and is stuck inside the"button snap" part. An easy fix if you have a snap repair kit, or a seamstress will usually charge a few bucks to do it. Otherwise no flaws- no spots or stains. No smells, no holes or tears, no paint loss to the many zipper pulls so I don't think this vest has ever seen action. All zippers. The Patterns book is comprised of 60 pages with color photos of flies and fly tying detail necessary for the avid fly fisherman to match the hatch when attempting to catch that elusive trout or salmon. Supplement I includes 16 pages and Supplement II includes 15 pages of same type of flies and pattern detail. Cosmetically. Some of the pages have minor yellowing age marks but there is no writing inside or out and binder is near mint. Rod reads Orvis Impregnated Manchester.There is a small piece of cork missing. Each piece mesearues 34.25 inches my guess makes it an 8 and half foot rod. Up for bid is this pair of Orvis Silver Label 2 bootfoot waders in size 10-Medium. The waders have felt soles with integral carbide studs. They were bought in a pinch when I needed a pair and my correct size wasn't available. In view of the fact they didn't fit me right there is very little use on them as you can see by the closeups of the soles I've provided. They are in very good condition with no known tears. Holes or leaks. The Silver Label 2 has an internal chest pocket which secures with velcro. Inside of this there's a zippered security pocket for car keys. Pills, or whatever.
