Gray Polarized Sunglasses w/Side Shields, Separate Bifocal Frame +2.5 Large
A unique pair of sunglasses here- high quality gray polarized non-prescription lenses in a heavy frame with gray side shields. Above an entirely separate clear bifocal providing +2.5 magnification for close work. These were made in Japan, my guess is vintage 1970s. The top lenses provide a full field of vision with no bifocal distortions- the eyes need to shift sharply downward in close focus to get the bifocal view. Useful for all sorts of outdoor activities, I suppose, but in my opinion the polarized lenses and side shields could make them peerless fishing sunglasses for the right person- someone who's a good fit for a large oversize frame like this one, with 20/20 distance vision to use the non-prescription lenses, perhaps with a reading(farsightedness) prescription that matches the magnification on the bifocals. Possibly Bifocal Men's Fishing Sunglasses???
Cleaning out family estate and found these glasses. Must have been my father's. Knew nothing about them so asked a friend and he said he thought they were Magnifying sunglasses. That way when they wore them in the sun. They could still see up close to put a tiny hook or whatever on. Are black in color. Probably would say a large in size. Also has shades on sides of glasses. On the end of one handle part, it says: +2.50 and in the middle of other handle part, it says: Korea 9051. Does have a case with them. Not sure if it came with them but I would think so. The clear bifocals are in very good condition for their age as the lenses do not have any chips but they do have some scratches when you look at them closely. They measure about 4.25" across the frame. The sunglasses also look good but the lenses do have some small chips around the edges that are really only noticeable upon a closer inspection(see photos) They measure about 4.75" across the frame. This auction is for a vintage pair of cat's eye women's sunglasses bifocal eyeglasses from the 1950's or early 1960's. The frames are dark. Possibly an amber or brown color, and the lenses are green. There is a bifocal insert at the bottom of each lens. The frame has no mfg. markings that I can find. The frame may be bent a bit as the end of only one arm touches a level surface. As seen in the pictures above. There may be some minor scratches on the lenses; the only mark I can see clearly is on the right eye lens. There is a small nick. There is a bit of wear at the end of each arm where it fits over the ear. I have described this item to the best of my ability. But I may have missed something that would be important to you.
