There's a Roddy surf reel and small Shakespeare reel. Both work and have normal wear and tear seen on older reels. Egg sinkers, trolling weights, lots of worm harnesses, lindy rigs. The large lures are 6" and 4-1/2" to 5" most of which have never been used. Leaders, both wire and mono, some homemade some factory NOS as well. Antique ACW American Eagle FISHING LINE TROLLEY Brass Lead TACKLE Weight
Item Description- Offering up for auction today we have a ANTIQUE"ACW" American Eagle FISHING TROLLEY. Measures 3.25" x 3.25" made of a lead with three brass wheels. Eagle bears a shield to his breast with"ACW" inscribed. Reverse shield is marked with a roman numeral VII. It weighs just over 9 oz. Unusual size; most trolleys had two wheels and weighed 3-4 ounces. Trolley fishing involved attaching a sturdy 6-ft. pole to a dock or pier with an attached anchor line(thrown out with a spider anchor to the end) and a trolley line which held several tied-on baited hooks. The weighted trolley rolled the fishing line down the anchor line and an alert"fish on" bell signaled one or more fish taking the bait(see illustration) This method of fishing was popular in the early-to-mid 20th century.
