Grundens Foul Weather Suit Slicker Youth 12 Years
Up for sale a REALLY NICE set of Grundens foul weather(slicker) gear. Grundens is worn by the commercial fisherman in the Cape May. NJ area where I live. I bought this set for my son at the local SeaGear outfitter for over $200 for the set. Once again this is the real deal NOT Chinese junk. It is top of the line rubberized plastic overalls with an overlapping jacket with hood. It is safety orange in color. All the elastic straps and snaps are intact. Snaps are high quality stainless steel with a double seam to keep the sea out. They look new with no rust.Color is bright and straps are clean. The raincoat has a few light dark smudges on it but they are light and don't effect the material just light soiling from being used on the boat a few times. The set doesn't have any salt or musty smell because I fresh water washed after the veryfew ... moretimes it was used. Grundens sizes are weird and in childrens sizes it goes by age. These say age 12 in them so it would fit the average 12 year old. My son is big and was in these at 10 and out of them at 12. Then I bought him adult size stuff. So if you have a child at that hard to find"adolescent" size stage between adult and child these are perfect. My personal set of fowl weather gear purchased from BOAT U.S. in 1979 for my sailboat"Catchun Sun" located in the Apostle Islands. This set was made in Boston.Mass and the quality is unmatched. I seriously doubt if you can aqquire this high quality in todays market and if you can it won't be inexpensive. As you can see, the jacket is lined and the pants have double seat and double knees and a bib pocket. Jacket shows some spots, if fully washable and all velcro, elastic, drawstring and zippers are as new. There are pockets everywhere and all have velcro closure. Inside the sleeves are sealed snug elastic wristbands to keep the water out when you reach up and out. No holes either. I have worn the jacket a number of times but the pants only a couple of times. This is a Women's Medium Dawn Riley foul weather jacket made by the Chapin Company. It has only been used a couple of times. There is a soil mark on the front(see photo) and a very small amount elsewhere. Other than that it is in excellent condition. All zippers work as they should.
